Schiavi Homes deals in new homes, and on the Better Business Bureau it describes itself as offering home building and modular home services, including site preparation, custom built construction and modular home set up. A recent customer who bought a double wide said they did not bring enough material to complete the tie-down job, and that after move-in the toilets backed up because none of the sewer pipes had been run. That customer said doors did not close properly, windows were cracked and floors were ripped up, and that about $762 for a change order was still owed after around two months. A recent customer said the home they were sold was not compliant with regulations for Hancock County, Maine, that the state required it to be taken away and replaced, and that they paid over $5,000 in additional fees they blamed on a mistake by the construction workers. A recent customer said Candice Jack was always responsive and answered all questions thoroughly while they were looking for a home. A 2026 customer said the Schiavi team made the process of getting their home smooth and that everything from start to finish was done in a timely manner.
I would not recommend this company. They sold us a home that was not in compliant with regulations for Hancock County, Maine. They were required by the state to take it away and give us a new one. It started as a friendly process. it took over a year with lots of complications. They still haven’t completed fixing issues with the new home. They promised to pay for all costs associated with the new home, as they should since it was no fault of ours. They did not hold true to this. We had to pay over $5,000.00 in additional fees due to their construction workers blatant mistake. They gaslight you and make you feel it’s your fault. I could go on but I won’t. Extremely frustrating and disappointing process with this company.
Do NOT buy a home from this company, they pressure you, call you, email you, rush deadlines, everyday during the process, then as soon as they get the check, communication becomes lackluster at best. When we were FINALLY able to get them scheduled to bring our double wide down, none of the construction crew knew the scope of work (they blamed management, management blamed them). They didn’t bring enough material to complete the tie-down job (which I could care less about) but after being told they’ll be back to complete the job, I did expect them to come back. After we moved in I noticed our toilets backing up, we called management, they blamed our electrician (??). Turns out they just never ran any of our sewer pipes. Doors don’t close properly, windows are cracked, floors are ripped up, the vinyl cover on our island is crumbling. The “21 day walk through” came at approximately 40 days post move in. They came, fixed a couple things and said “we will come back, we don’t have enough material” (notice a trend?). This was 2 or 3 weeks ago and we haven’t gotten a call or email back from them since, I’d say we’ve officially been ghosted. I was going to let by-gones be by-gones, but they owe me $762 (+/-) for a change order on their end, they’ve owed it to me for around 2 months now, excuse, after excuse, after excuse, tells me we’re never seeing that money back. This was the first brand new home we’ve ever bought, and because of our experience with Schiavi homes, I hope we never have to buy another one. Terrible company, terrible management. Take your hard earned money elsewhere!!
Candice Jack was great to work with when I was looking for a home. Always responsive, answering all questions thoroughly. Honest and helpful.
The whole schiavi team were hands down the most amazing group we could have chosen to help us with getting our forever home. They made the process so smooth and made sure we were a part of every step. Everything from start to finish was done in a timely manner and in the end everything came out beautiful. Every detail from this home is perfect and we couldn’t be more happy. the team was super easy to talk to and made our journey of getting our home very smooth and easy. We would recommend this company to anyone and we already have!
If I could give negative stars I would! We signed with coastline homes owned by Schiavi in February 2024.
