ScreenCoat Painting & Flooring is a Beverly shop built around a specific kind of call: an old New England floor that's lost its shine, plus the rooms around it that need painting to match. Owner Mike — called Michael in some reviews — runs the crew himself and is the one named in nearly every review on file back to 2021; Google shows 5 stars from 71 ratings. The floors are the throughline. This year, reviewers describe 1880s pine floors sanded back to a like-new shine and old, scratched maple brought back to life, often alongside a full interior repaint — five rooms painted along with new baseboards and refinished wood floors in one recent job. The pattern goes back years: in a 2024 review, a homeowner described a 172-year-old floor made "quite respectable again", and another that year called a 70-year-old floor made to look new; a 2022 review recalled the same kind of result in a 200-year-old house. Referrals show up often — a 2023 review names an office-colleague referral, and one 2024 customer had hired Mike twice, first for floor refinishing and later for a repair. There's little to flag. All 53 Google reviews on file are 5 stars, including 8 in the last six months, and nothing in the record — no complaint, no dispute, no regulatory note — breaks that pattern. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active, and BBB lists it as accredited with an A+ grade. The read here is for an older home's floors and the paint around them, handled by the same small crew — a 2023 review specifically credits Mike with matching stain colors across old and new wood in one house. Given a five-year run of five-star reviews, book ahead rather than expecting next-week availability.
I hired Mike to paint several rooms in my rental apartment in Beverly. I'd already done a lot of renovating in the unit, but most of it still needed to be painted. Mike's quote for the whole job was very reasonable and he was able to get it done in a short period of time. He did a great job - all clean lines, no paint on the floors or other surfaces. I'll definitely hire him again. Thanks, Mike!
Our old (1880) pine floors were in bad shape and now they look brand new, like floors you would see in an art gallery. I know it took a lot of work to transform these floors. Mike and his expert, congenial crew definitely go the extra mile to achieve such high quality.
Nice job! Mike and the team are professional and organized.
Having the right guy with the right skills makes all the difference. Mike is the right guy. He came in with a good price, fast scheduling, and a stunningly beautiful result! A+
Michael and his team executed perfection. All the details and finishing was there. It was precision work. I recommend you do what we did. Left early on Friday for a nice long weekend catching up with friends, come home Sunday to a whole new house. Why didn’t we do it sooner. Great team, Great guy. Thanks Michael!
