Highlights
- Hidden damage disclosed — flags rot and old leaks instead of upselling or hiding them
- Repeat business — a rental-property manager has rehired them for a third project
- Older homes handled well — century-old houses in Ipswich and Boxford kept their character
- Full exterior range — roofing, siding, windows, decks and gutters from one crew
- Quotes held firm — reviewers note final price matched what was quoted
- Timeline slippage — one reviewer said a siding-and-window job ran long
- Generic-sounding reviews — a run of recent five-stars reads templated, light on detail
D&G Exteriors runs roofing, siding, window, deck, and gutter jobs out of Beverly, and its Google page tells an unusually consistent story: 161 ratings, all five stars. Across dozens of write-ups from Salem to Ipswich to Boxford, one name keeps coming up — John, who shows up to quote the job, walks the property, and stays in the loop once the crew is on site. What separates the specific reviews from the generic ones is what gets found once the old materials come off. On a 1920s house that had been patched for years, the crew found rotted sheathing under the siding and fixed it rather than covering it back up. On a century-old Ipswich home, they rebuilt failing trim sections while keeping the house's original look intact. A homeowner with a long-standing roof leak that only showed up during hard rain from the east got it tracked down and repaired within a week — no pitch for a full roof replacement, just the actual fix. That pattern, disclosing a problem instead of turning it into a bigger sale, shows up often enough across independent reviewers that it reads as how the company actually operates, not a one-off. The repeat business points the same way: a property manager who oversees several North Shore rentals has hired D&G for two separate roofing jobs and has a siding project lined up next, saying John gives a number and sticks to it. Other recent jobs span the range the company advertises — a standing-seam metal roof in Salem, a full 14-window replacement in Marblehead, a rebuilt deck in Manchester-by-the-Sea, roofing and gutter work on another coastal property that held up through the weather there. Worth knowing before calling: a chunk of the five-star reviews are thin on detail — closer to "the team was professional and did great work" than a first-hand account of the job — so the sheer volume of five-star ratings is more convincing when weighed alongside the specific ones. One reviewer also mentioned a combined siding-and-window job running longer than planned, though they attributed it to the crew being thorough rather than cutting corners. The company's Massachusetts Home Improvement Contractor license (210073) is active. For a full exterior job — roof, siding, windows, and trim together, especially on an older house where something unexpected usually turns up once the walls are open — the recent history here is deep and mostly first-hand. For a smaller, single-item job, it's worth asking directly how they set the timeline before signing anything.

We put a standing seam metal roof on our Salem colonial and it's the best decision we've made on this house. Looks incredible, snow slides right off, and we're done thinking about our roof for the rest of the time we live here. John was great about explaining the differences between metal and shingles without pushing us either way. Really happy with D&G Exteriors.

We had a section of our roof that was leaking every time it rained hard from the east. John came out, found the problem, and had it repaired within a week. No pressure to replace the whole roof, just fixed what needed fixing. Leak is gone. Really appreciated the honest approach.

Called them about some siding that blew off during a storm. They came out fast, matched the existing material, and patched it so you can't even tell where the damage was. Quick, professional, reasonably priced. Exactly what you want in that situation.

Needed a deck torn down and rebuilt in Manchester-by-the-Sea. The old one was unsafe. Soft boards, wobbly posts, the whole thing moved when you walked on it. D&G built a new composite deck that's solid, looks clean, and should last a long time without the maintenance headaches we had with the old pressure treated wood. They also adjusted the layout so we actually have room for a table and chairs now, which the old deck never really allowed. Smart design and solid execution.

What an awesome job D&G did on our roof. The work was top of the line. They were done in 1 day even though there was a lot extra work that had to be done before the roof could be replaced. I would not hesitate to hire the group of workers again. They have a great team working with them
