Shiretown Glass & Home Center traces back to 1963, when William and Beverly Hallisey opened a glass and aluminum shop on Plymouth's waterfront. The company describes itself as still family-run: William Hallisey Jr. joined in 1983, became general manager in 1988, and took over after his father retired in 2004. Six decades on, it operates as a general contractor out of Standish Avenue in Plymouth, covering the South Shore and Cape Cod, with roofing, siding, window replacement, flooring, sunrooms, and kitchen and bathroom remodeling among its stated services. The reputation across review sites is solid but not uniform. Google puts it at 4.0 stars from 25 ratings; a zip2biz aggregator shows it noticeably higher, around 4.6 to 4.7 across a handful of smaller review counts, while Trustindex users land it lower, at 3.9 from 23 reviews — the number depends on where you look. What recurs across the praise is siding, window, and decking work, plus quick, professional handling of storm-damage jobs; customers who've hired them for one exterior project describe coming back for another. There's a real counterpoint to weigh, too. A Trustindex review, apparently written by a former employee, describes being denied earned time off on departure and alleges the general manager misled customers over measurement mistakes — a specific claim, though a single, unverified one rather than a documented pattern. Separately, its Houzz profile lists a license number and a badge but has zero reviews, so that platform doesn't add much independent confirmation either way. The paperwork holds up: Massachusetts's registry lists Shiretown's Home Improvement Contractor license (HIC 101550) as active, the Better Business Bureau gives it an A+ grade (though the business itself isn't BBB-accredited), and it's a certified Hunter Douglas dealer. Before booking, it's worth asking pointedly about pricing and scheduling for anything beyond a straightforward siding, window, or deck job — kitchen and bathroom remodeling shows up in its own service list but doesn't come up much in the outside reviews here, so that side of the business rests on thinner outside verification than the exterior work it's best known for.

From our first contact with this company we knew we would be in good hands. The owner came out right away and eased our minds given the magnitude of storm damage to our home. The crews did a fabulous job, shout out to the office staff and you too Kim. Will highly recommend Shiretown and look forward to working with them again in the future.

Scott at Shiretown organized the patching, sanding and refinishing of our floors. The craftsmen who did the work had to match the floor with an adjacent floor. They did an expert job. We couldn’t be more pleased. They also re glazed an enormous glass ceiling that was leaking. Torrential rains followed and we didn’t have a drop inside!

As a commercial contractor for over 20 years myself I seldomly use others but needed a piece of glass replaced in my bow window. Shiretown did a terrific job from start to finish. Very responsive, fair and quick pricing, great workmanship and outstanding end product. I highly recommend.

I just recently had my porch/deck done. The job was completed well enough but there were minor issues that they took long to respond to. Had a problem involving a dumpster service which my wife brought up with Mark who seemed to throw excuses. The haggle for a lower price on their service was outright denied because of the dumpster. They also broke my gutter and hose piece but I didn't bring it up in the end because "I'd be making more excuses". Also they claim to be "friendly", but Mark is far from it.
