One name runs through nearly all fifteen written accounts of Shoreline Builders, from 2015 to 2024: Jim Wolffer. The company is family-run out of Scituate — Judy Wolffer on office operations, son Taylor on the management team — and the BBB records it as started in 2001, accredited since 2014, A+ rated, with six employees. The recent accounts carry the most weight. In April 2024 a repeat client wrote about a second project with the firm, a renovation of an 1870s farmhouse. A March 2024 reviewer described learning that their home of twenty-eight years could not be saved structurally, interviewing a number of contractors, and choosing Jim to build the replacement. Another March 2024 client had a complete gut remodel and expansion done and credited the communication and the craftsmanship through it. In November 2023, a client who had moved into a custom-built home four years earlier wrote that they still could not be happier in it. The older Houzz set — nine reviews, every one posted between December 2015 and May 2016 — reads as a batch gathered when the profile went up, but the bodies are long and particular: a Hingham sunroom addition in 2013/14, a 2010 expansion where the family stayed in the house through the work, a custom home where the reviewer said the timeline and the cost were laid out at the start and then adhered to. One of those nine is not a customer — Steven Baczek writes as an architect who has worked alongside the firm for close to twenty years. The most telling detail sits in a December 2015 review: three years after the job finished, that homeowner had a warranty problem with an Azek railing, and Jim spent months chasing the manufacturer on their behalf. What a builder does long after the invoice clears is the hard part to fake. The company describes itself as design-build with an emphasis on building science and high-performance, energy-efficient construction, and its Houzz page lists memberships in the National Association of Home Builders, the Builders & Remodelers Association of Greater Boston, NESEA and NARI of Eastern Massachusetts, plus EPA Lead Safe Certified Firm status. Both Jim and Taylor Wolffer are described on the company's own site as licensed Massachusetts construction supervisors, without numbers given. BuildZoom lists two Massachusetts home improvement contractor registrations against the one business — #134214 active, and #177784 inactive and at one point cancelled — so ask which number your contract will carry and check it on the state registry. Stated job costs run $100,000 to $1 million, and the territory is Cohasset, Hingham, Marshfield, Norwell, Scituate, Duxbury and Cape Cod. This is a firm for the large South Shore project — a custom build, a gut renovation, a serious addition — and priced accordingly.

There aren't enough stars to express my gratitude for Shoreline Builders and the Wolffer family! We have had the great privilege of working with Shoreline on two home renovations. Most recently, we renovated a farmhouse built in the 1870's. Jim and his team worked with us through every stage of the project from the design, to getting approval from the historic commission, to repurposing the wood from the original house into one of a kind features. Shoreline helped us turn a crazy dream into our reality. I highly recommend Shoreline Builders!

When my wife and I realized that for structural reasons, we would not be able to save our home of twenty eight years, we interviewed a number of contractors to construct our new home. Without a doubt, Jim Wolffer, of Shoreline Builders stood out from the rest. Together with Steve Baczek, an architect that works with Jim on Design Build projects, worked with us to collaborate and design a fabulous home that we absolutely love. Jim's attention to detail, combined with putting together the best subcontractor team on the south shore, guaranteed a successful and top quality project of which we are very proud. Every detail in every room shows it. Jim, along with his son Taylor, always put the best interest of the client first and we will always appreciate the special care and concern they put into our home. Thank you Jim. Bob and Kathy Asmar

Shoreline Builders did a complete gut remodel and expansion of our home. From the initial meeting through completion, Jim, Taylor and their team did an outstanding job. We could not have been more pleased with the communication, professionalism, quality of craftsmanship and care they exhibited throughout the whole project. The end product came out better than we could have ever imagined. Highly recommend you consider them for your home renovation.

In 2018 we did a significant renovation on our current home. Shoreline Builders did an amazing job from start to finish! What could have been a very stressful experience was seamless and enjoyable thanks to Jim and his crew's professionalism, reliability, incredible talent and ability to manage our expectations. I appreciated that Jim always made himself available throughout the process to meet and discuss the project. He had valuable insight and was a great communicator - always keeping me up to date and on a schedule so I was never rushed into making a rash decision. He also has a wonderful demeanor - calm and a real problem solver. Shoreline Builders don't just build but they go above and beyond even with the most minor of details. Everything they do feels customized and special. We were so happy with our house renovation that this year they built our pool house as well. Although the pool house was a much smaller project - the attention to detail was the same top quality. Since the renovation, Jim and Taylor have helped us on numerous occasions - even with particularly small jobs - really living up to the promise that we are a "client for life". I know when I call them - whatever the issue is - big or small - that they will not only get it done but get it done right. I highly recommend Jim and Taylor!

Jim, Taylor and company are the best!! Five years ago I met them as I began my journey of building my forever home. I moved in four years ago and couldn't be happier!!! They are simply the nicest, most qualified detail oriented folks I know! Anytime someone new comes to my house they remark how much they love it and how welcoming it is. Thanks to Shoreline Builders I have my very own Oasis!!! If you're building or renovating you owe it to yourself to check out Shoreline, you won't regret it!!!
