Soma Construction Corp, run out of North Reading by owner Manny DaSilva, holds an active, state-verified Massachusetts home improvement contractor license. Its written review history actually predates the Soma name — most of it, from 2012 through 2020, comes from Manny's earlier company, Primus Company LLC Home Improvement, before the business became Soma Construction. The company's own site lists general construction, bathroom and kitchen work, carpentry and windows. That older Primus-era record is deep and specific. A 2014 reviewer described the crew fixing a crumbling bathroom ceiling, replacing a fan and sink, and — after spotting a toilet leak on their own — buying and installing a new toilet on the spot. A 2016 review described a carpenter finding ants while removing rotted wood and flagging it for treatment rather than covering it over with new PVC trim to save a trip. Others from that stretch describe a full bathroom remodel personally overseen by Manny, tiled walls around a bath and shower, floor-joist and beam repairs coordinated with a plumber, and a custom-built screen door. Under the current Soma Construction name, the picture is thinner but mixed: a February 2025 customer working with the company for a second time called the result outstanding and said they wouldn't go anywhere else, while a June 2025 review said the crew left a job half-finished, never came back to inspect it, and still demanded payment in full. Confirm current pricing and scheduling directly — the directories disagree even on how long the company's been around (HomeAdvisor says 13 years, Angi says both 17 and, in its own marketing copy, '25+'), and the written record of the Soma-branded work itself is split between a strong repeat customer and a serious complaint about unfinished work. A fit for someone drawn in by the long, detailed history of careful bath, tile and carpentry work under Manny's earlier company — just get a clear, written scope and payment schedule given the split verdict on the newer projects done as Soma.
Not only did they not complete the work as instructed but also left work half-done/unfinished. Contractor did not come back to my property to inspect the quality of the work but still, somehow, demanded immediate payment in full
Fantastic company!!!! Everyone is professional, timely, respectful , communication is consistent and finished product is outstanding. This is the second time we have worked with Soma Construction and I can’t say enough positive things. I wouldn’t go with anyone else!
Manny and his team did an excellent job. Manny is very professional, flexible, and communicative which I have found to be challenging based on previous experiences. I would certainly hire Manny again.
It was excellent. They were very personable, good attention to detail, they do what they said they would do, nice crew, clean, and I'm very pleased with the result.
Primus was terrific - reliable, reasonable costs, and excellent work
