Plenty of South End Plumbing's customers never paid Wayne Doherty a cent. On Google, customers describe him talking them through the fix over the phone: in an August 2025 review, a customer who needed a gas line to an outdoor grill disconnected texted him photos and was walked through it in two minutes, and a December 2025 customer with a broken disposal and an overflowing sink had it running again five minutes later. The Boston shop holds a 4.7 from 69 Google ratings. The company says Wayne Doherty started it in Boston's South End in 1975 and still runs it himself, serving the South End, Back Bay, Beacon Hill, Jamaica Plain, Dorchester, Brookline and nearby neighborhoods. BBB gives it an A+ grade. Wayne F Doherty's Massachusetts plumber license 8914-PL-M is expired. The company's site still lists Master Lic. #8914. When he does come out, customers describe quick work. In a December 2024 review, a customer said he had a dead water heater replaced within a couple of days and did the legwork to get a free replacement under the old unit's warranty. A July 2022 customer said he arrived a few hours after the call for a water heater installation, and in a March 2023 review he came on short notice and fixed two leaks under a sink. An April 2025 condo resident credited him with decades of experience in Boston's older buildings, and in a December 2023 review, when he could not handle a job himself, he found another plumber who could.
