Stillwater Building and Renovation is a design-build general contractor run by owner Kevin Lamb, based between Natick and West Boylston and working across the Greater Boston/MetroWest area on full-scale renovations, additions, and new construction. The written record runs unusually long and clean for a small firm — 17 reviews spanning 2014 through 2026 across eight different sources, with essentially no complaints on file. Customers describe Kevin directly, again and again, for being responsive, hands-on, and easy to reach by phone throughout a project. Specific jobs described over the years include a top-to-bottom exterior and interior renovation with a new roof, granite steps, and custom kitchen and baths in a 2017 review; an Azek deck finished after the homeowners fired an earlier, unscrupulous contractor, described in a 2016 review; and a bathroom renovation after a pipe burst, where Kevin coordinated the plumber and electrician directly so the homeowner didn't have to, described in a 2015 review. A 2026 review from an architectural photographer who has spent time in several of the company's finished homes — without having hired the company directly — called the craftsmanship and attention to detail standout. BBB accredits the company with an A+ grade and lists 12 years in business, which lines up with the review history dating to 2014. Multiple directories list Massachusetts contractor licenses for the firm — a Construction Supervisor license, a Home Improvement Contractor registration, and lead-safe renovation certifications on Houzz, and an active Home Improvement Contractor registration on BuildZoom — though none of these were independently confirmed against the state registry here; BuildZoom also notes two additional, inactive Newton licenses for the firm. Directory profiles disagree slightly on the company's exact home base — West Boylston on BBB and Houzz, Boylston on BuildZoom, Natick on Procore — which is likely just multiple offices or a move over the years rather than a different business, given the consistent name, owner, and work described everywhere. For a full-scale renovation, addition, or new build in the MetroWest area, Stillwater's long, consistently positive record with a single named point of contact is a strong signal — worth confirming the current license status directly given the directory-only sourcing above.
I’m an architectural photographer and have had the chance to photograph several of Stillwater’s projects. While I haven’t hired them directly, I’ve spent a lot of time in the homes they’ve remodeled and can say their work stands out. The level of craftsmanship, attention to detail, and overall finish is consistently high. These are the kinds of projects that photograph beautifully because they’re built right in the first place. If you’re looking for a builder who takes pride in their work, they’re worth a serious look David West Born Imagery
I highly recommend working with Stillwater Building & Renovation. Kevin is wonderful to work with and had been a tremendous help throughout the entire design process. He is very responsive and will always pick up the phone to answer any questions we have. Not only that but his craftsmanship, quality and attention to detail when it comes to custom cabinetry and millwork is unmatched.
We've had the pleasure of partnering with Kevin of Stillwater Builders on several large remodeling projects over the last few years. Kevin is no doubt committed to delivering a high end, streamlined project! I would look no further if you're in the Greater Boston region looking for a contractor to partner with!
August west chimney were very cautious about cleaning and explaining the need for dry hardwood. I recommend them.
We contracted with Stillwater Building for a top to bottom renovation of the exterior and interior of our single family house. The work included a new roof, granite steps, porch with custom details, exterior doors and windows, custom kitchen and baths, a bedroom renovation and finished with the interior and exterior painting of the house. Kevin and Tim are experienced, professional, knowledgeable in all areas of renovation and a pleasure to work with. From planning, to demo, to design tips, they were attentive and closely worked with us to insure that this undertaking would meet our vision, needs and satisfaction. Daily communication and weekly updates kept us informed and allowed us the opportunity to (constantly ) ask questions and receive detailed information regarding the progress of the multiple projects. We're pleased and impressed with the outcome and highly recommend Stillwater Building.
