Stillwater Building and Renovation, LLC

Stillwater Building & Renovation is a residential design-build and remodeling contractor led by its owner and president, Kevin Lamb, working from West Boylston and Natick across eastern and central Massachusetts. The work it describes is full-scale renovations, additions and new home construction. It is Better Business Bureau accredited with an A+ grade and 12 years in business; 60 permitted projects sit on its BuildZoom profile, mostly chimney rebuilds and kitchen and bath work, and 49 projects on Procore, 20 of them active. The written accounts describe whole-house work and tricky retrofits in older buildings. A March 2017 customer had a top-to-bottom renovation inside and out — new roof, granite steps, a porch with custom detailing, exterior doors and windows, a custom kitchen and baths. A May 2014 couple in a 100-year-old triple-decker condo came to Stillwater after half a dozen walk-throughs and steep quotes elsewhere; another that month had a wall torn out and wall-length closets built between two bedrooms, crediting Kevin and Tim as a team. Coordination in multi-family buildings comes up more than once. In January 2015 a customer had their own bathroom and their downstairs neighbour's renovated after a pipe let go, with Kevin coordinating the plumber and electrician so the owner did not have to sequence the trades. Estimating and design draw specific praise: detailed estimates and computer-generated diagrams in a January 2016 account, and an April 2023 customer who called Kevin a tremendous help through the design process and someone who always picks up the phone. A January 2016 customer found the company listed as a certified Azek builder and hired it to finish a deck abandoned by a contractor they had fired; a March 2017 customer had a deck built on schedule and within budget. Two things to know about how thin the recent written record is: the detailed customer accounts date from 2014 to 2017, the two since then come from trade contacts rather than clients — an architectural photographer who has photographed several projects and a firm that has partnered on remodels — and Houzz lists the Massachusetts registrations and lead-safe credentials as the company's own profile entries. Ask for the current registration and construction supervisor numbers, for recent client references, and for the design and allowance stages to be written into the contract.
