One name runs through every review of Stratum Construction: Lee. He is the carpenter customers describe walking the job with them at the end of each day, and the detail in their accounts is unusual. A March 2024 homeowner replacing a porch ceiling wrote that Lee brought a laser to level the ceiling and position the electrical boxes, talked them through the molding trim and strapping, pulled in two more workers when the job needed them, and finished ahead of schedule and inside the estimate. The shop is owner-run out of 61 Macy Street in Quincy — Lindomar De Souza, with the site saying clients work directly with the owners — and its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, number 209493, is active in the state registry under the company's own name. Angi and HomeAdvisor both list Spanish spoken and International Code Council membership. The work skews to carpentry and exteriors: decks and porches, siding, trim, framing, cabinets, exterior shutters, even a custom kitchen table one customer had built to specific measurements. A February 2024 reviewer hired them for siding, trim, windows and a dormer, then interior trim and carpentry. Another hired them twice — a deck in 2022, then a bathroom remodel — and singled out being given options with pros and cons rather than one price. Here is the thing to weigh. All ten reviews on file are five stars, they all landed between February and May 2024, and the same ten appear on both Angi and HomeAdvisor because the two sites mirror each other. That is a narrow, bunched record from a single review family, and there is nothing on Google to check it against. Nothing in it looks off, but ten reviews from one four-month stretch two years ago is a thinner basis than the perfect average suggests. If you want carpentry-led work — a deck, a porch, siding and trim, a dormer — the accounts here are specific enough to be worth acting on. Ask for a job from the last year you can look at or a reference you can call, since the written record stops in 2024, and confirm the registration number 209493 on the state's own site before work starts.
Great work ethic. Job well done at a reasonable price. Will hire them again for future projects.
Lee was a very "hands on" Carpenter. He explained the process of replacing my Porch ceiling in detail. Then he did the job!. He helped me position the electrical boxes for the lights and the ceiling fans as well as walked me threw the molding trim and the strapping required. Lee brought with him a laser that allowed us to make sure the new ceiling was level as well the positioning of the electrical boxes. Lee brought 2 more workers to the project when required and got the job done ahead of schedule and within budget and his estimate! Lee was pleasant to work with and I would highly recommend him for any Carpentry project. Jeff
Excellent Work!
Lee outlined every step of the project in advance, and walked me through the work completed at the end of each day. There were no surprises in cost, and 100% satisfaction in the quality and timeliness of the work. We are thrilled with the job Stratum did in replacing our deck and will use them again for future projects.
Lee was prompt in responding, coming out to give an estimate, and in completing the work. He is also scrupulously honest and professional.
