Suburban HVAC has run out of Westwood since 1965, by its own account — a family-owned shop that still covers the same greater Boston footprint, and into southern New Hampshire, doing residential and commercial heating and cooling. Google puts them at 4.7 stars across 257 ratings, and that holds up over time: 143 reviews across five sources since 2021, with the last six months alone adding a dozen reviews and not one negative among them. The recurring theme is specific people getting called out by name — Bobby Rinn walked one customer through a mini-split quote that beat competing bids, with Mike on-site and on schedule for the install; another reviewer credits Tyler MacQueen with solving a problem other technicians couldn't pin down; and a furnace that had short-cycled every winter for years turned out to have its gas pressure set for the wrong fuel entirely, something a technician caught on a routine visit. Paul, described in reviews as a "Home Comfort Advisor," shows up repeatedly as the one keeping customers updated through installs, and the company fit one Acushnet homeowner into its schedule even though the address falls outside its normal service area. Not every recent visit was flawless: one reviewer got three mini-splits installed at a fair price but needed repeated emails to get a quote, and ended up with a line run across a gutter without being asked first. Its BBB profile is A+ and accredited, and its Massachusetts HVAC license (175-SM-B) checks out as active with the state. The reputation isn't identical everywhere it's mentioned, though: an independent review site logged it at 3.0 out of 5 back in 2023, notably below its Google standing, and several 2025 reviews describe quotes that took weeks to materialize or never arrived at all. None of that shows up in the most recent run of reviews, but it's worth pinning down a firm date for a written estimate before committing to anything. For a mini-split, heat pump, or furnace-and-boiler job around Boston, the license is active, the BBB grade is clean, and the last six months of reviews back the technicians by name rather than just the company brand. Ask for the estimate in writing with a date attached, and clarify upfront how a follow-up — like the stuck light after one recent heat-pump install — gets scheduled if something needs a second look.

I worked with Bobby Rinn. on my mini splits. He was great, just a texted away if I needed something. He came in with a great quote- much less then others. We set up a date and Mike was there on time and worked meticulously getting things just right. Highly recommend Suburban HVAC.

I had a Ductless Carrier Wall Unit replaced in my attic. Bobby came out to look at it and was great to work with. He understood the assignment and provided options that would work for our space. He was very knowledgeable and was able to get our installation set up quickly. The installation team was so kind, removed the old wall unit and outdoor unit, was very clean, wore shoe covers in our home, and finished the job on time without issue. I would highly recommend Suburban!

Got 3 mini splits installed by Suburban. They got the job done at a reasonable price. The customer service was not great. Had to email them multiple times to get a quote and other information along the way. They also installed a pipe that looks weird on the side of our house (it's wrapped over our gutter, perpendicular to it). I wish they had run that by us before installing. Overall a good experience.

I had a great experience with Suburban HVAC. Tyler MacQueen did an amazing job solving a problem that others couldn’t figure out. He was professional, knowledgeable, and persistent until the issue was resolved. I really appreciate his expertise and the quality of service provided. Highly recommend Suburban HVAC, especially Tyler, for anyone looking for reliable HVAC service.
