Suliveras Excavation describes site prep, grading, drainage and demolition work on its website. In a recent review, a customer who had AJ do work that included a wall says they paid in full and then found some of the heavy cement blocks were loose; he agreed to come back to fix it, and the customer says he then wanted to charge more for his error. In a 2025 review, a customer described a written contract covering fill loads, extending a pipe and pulling stumps, and wrote that after the first day he changed the terms to $170 extra per load and asked for daily payments although the contract specified payment upon completion. That customer also wrote that he later added an extra $2,000 for use of his excavator and walked away from the job when the only remaining task was the pipe installation. In a separate 2025 review, a customer wrote that AJ leveled their muddy and wet backyard and transformed it into a much more usable space. In a 2024 review, a customer who had to replace a very high retaining wall and build a new downhill driveway wrote that AJ put equipment onsite before the first payment, worked with progress payments, kept in frequent contact and finished on the timeline they agreed upon. In a 2023 review, a customer wrote that AJ fit their project in after finishing work at their neighbor's, took care not to damage their driveway with his big machine, did exactly what they talked about and left the yard very neat and clean.
I had work done by AJ part of which was a wall. I paid him in full and then realized some of the heavy cement blocks were loose. I texted him to come back to fix this and he agreed to do so this week. Now he wants to charge me more for his error. I would not ever use him again.
Suliveras Excavation - Unreliable and Untrustworthy Do not trust this contractor. He will not complete your project as promised. Warning to future customers: Be extremely cautious of the wording in the contract, and do not rely on any verbal agreements—he will disregard them entirely. He will say "yes" to everything in person, only to change his story later. You may end up stuck in the middle of your project, forced to pay more than originally agreed to, or left with unfinished work. My Experience: We agreed via email to the following scope of work, with a written contract: Fill per load (10 loads included): $X x 10 = $X,XXX Extend pipe: $XX Pull and dispose of stumps: $XX Labor: $200 Machinery rate: $1,500 Delivery & mobilization: $300 Total cost: $X,XXX Deposit: $X (which I paid upfront) We also discussed by phone that 10 loads might not be enough. He said if we need more, it will be $X per additional load. I also asked about labor, and he assured me it was “on him,” whether it took one or two days. Based on that, I agreed to proceed, expecting we might need another 5 loads. The day he delivered his “quarter-million-dollar excavator,” he demanded a deposit. I handed him a check and later realized I had overpaid by $500 compared to the original agreement. Still, I trusted him. On the first day of work, only about a quarter of the job site was covered. We discussed needing around 15–20 more loads. At that point, he changed the terms and said it would now cost $170 extra per load to continue. I did the math, agreed, and said we’d pay the original $X + $170. Before leaving that day, he demanded payment for the day’s work. I reminded him that the contract specified payment upon completion, but he insisted he needed daily payments “because we’re a new customer.” Again, I trusted him and gave him a check. Later that evening, he called to say it would now cost the original $X per load plus an extra $2,000 for use of his “quarter-million-dollar excavator”—which had never been mentioned before. I called back to clarify: if we go beyond 10 loads, are we just paying $X per load? He said no—now we were capped at 10 loads, which wouldn’t complete the project. At that point, I asked him to just finish what was in the original contract, including the pipe installation. He said he would “check stock in the morning.” The next day, he called and said the pipe wasn’t available until Friday. I asked what that meant for the project. He replied, “I’ll come pick up everything.” I have texts from him confirming that he would prep the area for the pipe. But when he arrived around 1:30 PM, he immediately began loading up his excavator without even talking to us. When we asked him to come out and discuss the situation, he refused. My car was in the driveway and my wife moved it to block him from leaving—not to hold him hostage, but to ensure he followed through on prepping the area for Friday’s pipe install. He instead took out his phone, filmed us, and twisted the story to make it seem like we were preventing him from leaving. The reality was, we were trying to hold him to the contract and get the work done. He used this as an excuse to walk away from the job. At that point, we had already paid for labor. The only remaining task was pipe installation.
We had an amazing experience with Suliveras Excavation! AJ did an outstanding job leveling our muddy and wet backyard. His work was thorough, professional, and transformed our yard into a much more usable space. We're thrilled with the results and highly recommend AJ for his exceptional service!
I had to replace a very high retaining wall and build a new downhill driveway. I was nervous to hire for such a big job based on scary stories with contractors. AJ is outstanding and helped me through the process like: putting equipment onsite before first payment, and progress payments. 1.) Highly communicative! Frequent contact and status which makes everything easy. 2.) Great equipment! A variety of machines to get the job done. 3.) Competitive pricing! High value for the money. 4.) Fast work. Quick work - weather permitting. Job was done on timeline we agreed upon. I won't use anyone else. We have additional work that needs to be done and AJ is the only one I will trust to get the job done.
AJ was doing a project for my neighbor and I asked about a project I was thinking about doing at my house. He was able to squeeze me in after he was finished the work at my neighbors. He took care not to damage my driveway with his big machine. He worked fast and did exactly what we talked about and left my yard very neat and clean. I plan to do some other projects next year and will be calling Suliveras Excavation.
