Stair runners are the thing customers keep coming back to. Four flights done at once. An old, awkward staircase that turned out to be a hard install. A runner put in this past June that the homeowner said the installer cleaned up carefully after. For a shop that mostly sells flooring over the counter, an unusual share of the praise is about what happens after the truck arrives. Summerlin Floors works out of a storefront at 322 College Street in Amherst, selling carpet, hardwood, laminate, tile, luxury vinyl, natural stone and area rugs, and handling installation, design consultation and in-home measurement. The company says it has been at this since 1968 — its Angi and HomeAdvisor profiles both put the start at 1981 instead — and the Valley Advocate named Ann Bronner as owner in a 2020 write-up. BusinessWest has described the business as woman- and family-owned in stories from 2024 and 2025, and a 2020 item on spotonmassachusetts.com reported it received a woman-owned business certificate from WBENC. Google carries a 4.3 average across 31 ratings, and the written history runs 2021 through this summer. The most detailed account is a 2024 shower rebuild: a customer whose previous shower had been leaking said Summerlin explained the waterproofing system up front, then finished in the three days quoted and at the quoted price even after the subfloor came out worse than expected. Rugs turn up often too — a 2025 customer had a pad cut to fit a rug bought in Turkey, and another bought two large Persian-style rugs that spring. A 2022 customer building a first house said the staff talked them through installing tile themselves, work Summerlin would otherwise have been paid to do. The complaint worth reading is from March 2024, and it is about the crew rather than the flooring. A customer wrote that the four-man install team balked at helping move furniture for his wife, 38 weeks pregnant, marked a wall pulling a toddler's bed away, and that one installer challenged him face to face. A separate April 2024 review reported visible nails and lumpy joints after a stair-runner install; that customer said the owner laid out options to fix it and gave them time to decide. Both reviews from the past six months are positive. Massachusetts does not require home improvement contractor registration for floor-covering-only work, so there is no state licence to check here. BusinessWest has also reported annual $2,500 donations to Greenfield Community College and a scholarship for a woman of color studying business there. If you are buying materials and want someone to talk options through, this is a shop people return to over decades. If you are booking an installation, ask who is on the crew, settle what they will and will not move, and get the finish standards agreed before the day.

Everyone here is friendly, professional and knowledgeable! Good selection of flooring, welcoming environment!
Great install by Brandon! Incredibly kind, professional and cleaned up very well after putting in our runner. Would definitely recommend
I needed to get a customized pad for a rug that I bought in Turkey. The fit was absolutely perfect. I couldn’t be more satisfied!!
They have excellent product offerings, and friendly and knowledgeable staff. One of the installers came to our house and gave us helpful advice about which products and colors would work best for our application.
My wife & I purchased 2 relatively large Persian style rugs from Summerlin. The rugs are beautiful, very good quality and the people at Summerlin couldn't possibly be nicer, more accommodating and friendly.
