Thirty-seven years under the same name, and not one public review anywhere. Tanguay Construction is a sole proprietorship run by Gilles Tanguay out of Hampden, just east of Springfield; BBB dates the business to January 1989 and lists framing, roofing, siding and skylight repair as the work it reports doing. The permits are the honest measure here. BuildZoom counts 14 permitted projects, three of them in the past three years, mostly in the $5,000 to $50,000 range — reroofs, deck and railing replacement, window swaps and repairs around Hampden, Longmeadow, Lenox, Springfield, Indian Orchard, Chicopee, Agawam and West Springfield. There is also a cluster of 2020-2022 Haverhill trade permits covering a kitchen renovation and pool wiring, the one stretch of recorded work out east. Two things to settle on a first call. Nobody has reviewed them publicly: BBB lists the business as "Not Rated" because it does not have enough information, and BuildZoom has no reviews on file, so references from recent jobs are the only track record you will get. Both directories also record a Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration (#106262), and BBB additionally lists a construction supervisor licence (CS-013940) — those are the directories' records rather than a confirmed status, so ask for both numbers and check them against the state's own contractor lookup. For a roof, a deck or a window job near Hampden or the Springfield area, a shop that has been at it since 1989 is a reasonable name to get a quote from. If your house is in eastern Massachusetts, ask up front whether they still travel that far, because nearly all the permitted work sits out west.
