The Coastal Companies is an Outer Cape design-build firm at 4665 US-6 in Eastham. By its own account the business began as Coastal Land Design, founded in 2000 by Timothy D. Klink, who still runs it as Founder and CEO, and it now works through three divisions covering custom home building and renovation, landscape design and swimming pool construction. The written customer record is real but dated and very thin. A homeowner writing on Houzz in July 2014 described a whole-house remodel — kitchen, attic bedroom, bathrooms, exterior and roof — and said the contractor and his crew did excellent work, listened well, suggested helpful ideas and kept the job clean. That is the only written review on file; Houzz shows 5.0 from a single rating and Google 5 stars from two ratings, so there is little volume behind those averages. Local coverage fills in the rest. A 2021 Wicked Local story described the firm as the landscape design and development company behind Cedar Banks Landing, a 20-unit luxury development in Eastham next to its own offices, and the Provincetown Independent reported in 2023 that Klink had bought a fire-damaged half-acre property at 177 Route 6A in Orleans. The Cape Cod Times reported in 2020 that Klink made a family donation toward an Eastham police motorcycle unit in his father's memory. The word-of-mouth read is mixed. On r/CapeCod in May 2026 one homeowner planning a build said they were considering the firm as their contractor, while another commenter in the same thread urged them to get bids, wrote that "Coastal is showing up a lot lately but also destroying the character of the Outer Cape" and suggested looking at who has pulled permits locally — a comment about the firm's visibility and design style rather than about workmanship. What is worth asking about is recency: nothing in the public record documents a completed residential job after 2014, so ask for current references from the division that would handle your project, and — as that commenter advised — get competing bids before committing.
“Get bids. Coastal is showing up a lot lately but also destroying the character of the Outer Cape. At least give other builders an option to bid. There are quite a few that have built out prefab and modular. Look at who has pulled permits in your town for a sense of who is active and what they buil”
“We are considering Coastal Companies for the contractor.”
“Klink, CEO of the Coastal Companies, bought the half-acre property from lawyer Benjamin Zehnder in mid-July.”
“completing the 20-unit luxury development owned by the Coastal Companies, the landscape design and development firm whose offices are next door at 4655 State Highway.”
“Timothy Klink, president of The Coastal Companies, is making the donation on behalf of his family, his mother and two brothers in honor of his father, Gunther Klink.”
“ORLEANS — Tim Klink, an Eastham builder and developer, has purchased 177 Route 6A, where a Feb. 4 fire in an illegal apartment caused the death of a six-year-old boy and rendered the building uninhabitable.”
Remodeled our house (kitchen, attic bedroom, bathrooms, outside, roof, etc. The contractor and the people who worked for him did excellent work. They listened well to our needs; they suggested ideas that were extremely helpful; they were clean in their work; the final product is truly amazing.
