Highlights

  • Durable repairs — jobs from years back holding up with no leaks or issues
  • Copper & rubber roofing — repeat customers cite neat, attentive work
  • Proactive chimney catch — flagged masonry issues, added chimney caps
  • Expired HIC license — Massachusetts registration lapsed per state registry

The Dirty Roofer is a small Boston outfit whose reviews keep naming the same two guys, Brendan and Eamon, doing hands-on roofing and copper work themselves rather than sending out a rotating crew. The work described spans real range: an ice dam repair that held up through a recent cold snap, a rubber roof and porch shingling job from years back that a customer says is still leak-free, and a full roof repair this spring where the crew flagged deteriorating chimney masonry on their own and added chimney caps to the job rather than leaving it for the homeowner to notice later. A repeat customer who has used them several times over the years singles out their copper work as consistently well done. One thing worth asking about directly: the state registry shows the company's Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration has lapsed. That doesn't erase the work described above, but it's worth confirming current licensing status before signing a contract. For roofing work that might also touch copper flashing or chimney details, this reads as a small, hands-on operation with a track record customers keep coming back to — just get the licensing question settled first.

What does a roof replacement cost in Greater Boston?

Typical Greater Boston range for this kind of work, from regional averages — not a quote from The Dirty Roofer. Use it to sanity-check bids, then get the real number in writing.

A square is 100 sq ft of roof surface — bigger than the floor plan because of pitch and overhangs.

Estimated range

$9,000 – $18,600

Typical roofing project around $13,800

We had a fantastic experience with The Dirty Roofer. The fixed an ice damn for us a few years and ago, and even with the cold of 2026, we had no issues. So, when we decided to do a full roof repair this spring, we knew who to call. What better reference that a job well done in the past. Brendan and Eamon were responsive and very reasonably priced. But the best part was the work and communication. They noticed some of the masonry on our chimney needed some help and that we could use chimney caps. And allowed us to add on that service. It brings significant piece of mind, knowing the job was done and done correctly.

Eamon and Brenden did another fabulous job for me recently. I have used them several times over the years and they are always professional , neat and very attentive to their work. The copper work is always top notch and never hesitate to recommend them to family and friends.

Experienced, hardworking guys, honest fair pricing. Did a rubber roof and shingled my screen in porch 7 years ago holding up great no leaks no blowoffs no issues.
