In a July 2025 Google review, a customer wrote that the carport TimberHomes Vermont built for them is well designed and solid, and that everything happened according to plan. TimberHomes is a timber-frame builder; its Houzz profile describes a construction partnership based in Vershire and Montpelier, Vermont, building homes and timberframed structures, and its website lists pavilions, barns, cabins, solar carports and homes. In a November 2024 update, a customer wrote that Timo and his team came back to design and install a Black Locust timber sign that matches the carport they built. The same customer had contracted SameSun of Vermont in Rutland for a solar project at their office, and SameSun brought TimberHomes in to design and build a post and beam parking canopy of local Vermont White Oak, with professional drawings and mock-ups before the build. In a November 2014 Houzz review, a customer wrote that David and Josh turned their basic plan for a barn into a strong design, that David Hooke e-mailed the costs and time constraints of every change the next day, and that the full crew came for a week to assemble and roof the frame. In a November 2014 review, a family wrote that TimberHomes helped work out a greenhouse design within their budget and cut the timbers out of white oak, then guided an assembly party with 60+ friends from the neighborhood that put up the structure in a day. In an October 2014 Houzz review, a customer said they built their whole house with Josh, from timber frame through to the final interior details. A February 2015 reviewer wrote that Josh led the design meetings, that they designed a house without an architect, and that Josh, Timo, Shannon and Schuyler stayed sensitive to cost and made deadlines. A March 2015 customer said their home earned a 5 star rating from Efficiency Vermont. Google shows 4.9 stars from 19 ratings, and Houzz 5.0 from 7.
“I have a friend who has one from Vermont Timberhomes:”
“A GROUP OF Cornwall volunteers, guided by workers from TimberHomes Vermont, join forces on July 17 and 18 to assemble and erect a pavilion for the nascent Cornwall Outdoor Recreation Area, located next to Bingham Memorial School.”
Timberhomes was such a pleasure to work with throughout the project and the carport they built for us is well designed and solid! It’s exactly what we were looking for. Everything happened according to plan and it was evident that the team takes a lot of pride in their craftsmanship. I can’t recommend Timberhomes enough!!!!
(Update Nov 2024) I had Timo and his team come back for more work. They designed and installed a new Black Locust timber sign for us that we love! Aesthetically it matches the car port they did. What a great crew to work with! Really excellent and positive experience with Timberhome Vermont! I would love to work with them again. I contracted with SameSun of Vermont in Rutland to do a large Solar project at my office. Part of that project turned out to be a post and beam parking canopy and SameSun brought Timberhomes into the project to design and build it. We couldn't be happier with our new solar parking canopy....its all local Vermont White Oak. Timo and his team were just a pleasure to work with from day 1..... communication was on point, they had professional drawings / mock ups of the structure pre build, everything stayed on track and on time, their team was super skilled and very nice to work with. Very highly recommend Timo and the team to anyone.
"When my wife and I were fortunate enough to build our second home in southern Vermont, we kept coming back to Timber Homes' website above all others. We sensed something different...something special. They don't sell you on the proverbial "kit home" models like other companies and builders. Their respect for the process, environmentally friendly building practices, and a profound ability to actually hear what's important to you (the client) is second to none. Their attention to detail in the joinery, coupled with the time honored tradition of classic timber framing techniques are inspiring; especially in a modern world that's in a rush to get things done. Most people might walk into an empty home and wonder where the furniture's going to go and what color to paint the walls. A Timber Homes design looks great empty! If you can appreciate quality, professionalism, and working with people that respect their work, then I highly recommend these folks." Alex & Irene Tjoumakaris
It was a pleasure working with Timberhomes. From day 1 when we first met David the ideas were flowing and we ultimately came to design a home that we love. They were especially concerned that the home be respectful to our goals with the site. Everyone we met on their team was terrific too. One comment we received from a visitor was that "stepping into the house was like living within a piece of furniture" after seeing the beauty of the frame and joinery. We wanted to have a home that would be efficient (5 star rating from Efficiency Vermont), fun and a great place to spend every day in and they delivered.
The stars were aligned when a friend introduced us to Josh of TimberHomes, LLC. From our first meeting with Josh we were confident that our ideas and dreams could become a reality, and within our budget. Little did we know that he worked with such a talented timber crew of craftsmen (and craftswoman) who would help us meet our goals. The design work unfolded from a series of meetings with Josh. We were very pleased with his thoroughness, creativity, and we succeeded in designing a house without need for an architect. Our focus was on energy efficiency, using wood from our land, staying on budget, and staying open to what creatively emerged in the process. All of this and more happened, thanks to Josh, Timo, Shannon, and Schuyler. They communicated well, responded quickly to questions/concerns/ideas, stayed sensitive to cost, made deadlines, helped coordinate subcontractors with ease. Moreover, they knew how to have fun and make the house building project a fun memory (even when it was stressful.) I sit comfortably inside, as I write at the kitchen island, while the wind whips and temperatures sit near zero outside with newfound appreciation of good performance and aesthetics coming together in a modern, custom home----thanks to the THLLC team.
