TMK Remodeling is Ted Kelley's North Andover design-build shop, and for a stretch of years the record here is about as strong as this kind of review set gets: 13 Houzz reviews between 2013 and 2016 average 4.9 stars, and read one after another, they tell a consistent story — organized, communicative, on schedule, and unafraid to pull a permit rather than skip it. Homeowners kept describing full kitchen and bathroom remodels in aging homes, several of them multi-project relationships where one good bathroom job led to a kitchen the following year. A 2016 reviewer specifically praised Ted for showing up when he said he would and pulling the proper permits along the way; a 2013 review described TMK negotiating a free, higher-quality shower door with the manufacturer after the originally specified one failed, with no extra cost to the homeowner; others mention vetted subcontractors, clean job sites, and staying on budget across projects ranging from a garage renovation with custom cabinetry to a vintage 1900 bathroom expansion. One of the 13 reviews is worth reading differently than the rest — it's from a professional interior designer who refers clients to Ted, not a homeowner who hired him directly, though her account of his pricing and scheduling discipline echoes what the actual customers say. Two things are worth knowing before calling. First, every one of those reviews is now nine to thirteen years old, and there's no more recent customer feedback on file anywhere — BBB and BuildZoom both show zero reviews for the business, so the 4.9★ record lives entirely on Houzz's older pages. Second, BuildZoom reports that TMK's Massachusetts contractor license (#165887) is currently inactive, with an April 2022 expiration date, and that the state's Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation site showed the license status as at one point cancelled when it last checked; BBB's own profile likewise carries an alert filed under licensing, pointing to the state's building regulations board. Houzz separately lists a different, self-described credential (CSL and HIC registration, license #105086) that appears to be a related but distinct number rather than a contradiction. Given the gap between an excellent but dated review history and an unresolved licensing question, confirming current registration directly before signing anything is worth the extra call.
TMK has done 2 major projects in my home, bathroom and kitchen. Beautiful and well done! By far of any re-modelers I have used they are the best. Will use again and again
This was one of my best contractor experiences. Something that drives me really crazy is a contractor that does not show up when he says he will or call to let you know. Ted started and finished the job in a timely manner and was responsive to all my inquiries. He did things by the book (getting all the proper permits) and had good ideas for changes that needed to be made In addition my kitchen came out beautiful and I love it. And when I had a plumbing leak almost a year later, he had someone there within a couple of days to fix it.
Great estimate given, and very informative. Very helpful and great to deal with and cant wait for the project to begin.
TMK expanded and remodelled my vintage 1900 bathroom. Ted bought some great ideas ot the table and worked to incorporate my vision as well. Quality of work performed was great, worksite always clean and orderly, and communication and documentation was first rate. You'll find guys who have the trades skills but not the business skills-- Ted is strong in both areas, plus he has lined up some really excellent subs to make for trustworthy one stop shopping and an overall painless experience.
Ted was extremely organized, communicative, trustworthy and professional from the initial development of the scope of work right through project completion. Ted's positive attitude and demeanor made him very easy and enjoyable to work with. Ted made helpful design recommendations along the way that enhanced the overall value of the project. We are very pleased with the end result and will not hesitate to utilize Ted's services on future projects.
