TMK Remodeling is Ted Kelley, working out of North Andover, and the reviews clients left about him are the kind any contractor would want. The catch is the date on them: every one runs between 2013 and 2016. In that stretch, thirteen clients wrote up kitchens, bathrooms, a custom garage renovation and a hundred-year-old house, and the same qualities recur in nearly all of them. He turned up when he said he would. The schedule written on paper was the schedule that happened. The site was cleaned every night. A reviewer in 2016 noted he pulled the proper permits, and that when a plumbing leak surfaced almost a year after the job he had someone there within a couple of days. A 2013 client whose specified shower door failed said TMK went back to the manufacturer and got a better one at no extra cost. The subcontractors were a theme of their own. A 2013 client said the electricians, plumbers and tilers he used showed up on time and did work you would be lucky to find on your own. A designer who had worked alongside him on several jobs, writing that same year, described fair estimates and a schedule with no guesswork. One 2013 client liked the bathroom enough to have the kitchen done the following summer, and kept the temporary summer kitchen he rigged up on their screened porch. Where things stand now reads differently. The permit trail runs 2014 to January 2018 — nine projects across the Merrimack Valley and north of Boston, valued between $3,250 and $68,100. BuildZoom reports Massachusetts licence #165887 as inactive with an expiration of April 2022, says it re-checked and found it expired again in April 2026, and notes that Mass.gov listed the status as at one point cancelled. Houzz separately prints a number, 105086, under a self-written line reading "CSL, HIC Registration and Insured" — the company's own description rather than a verification. The BBB has the business Not Rated for lack of information, with one alert filed under licensing. So: a remodeler with a genuinely strong mid-2010s record and very little documented since. If you call, ask directly whether he currently holds an active Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration and construction supervisor licence, check both numbers yourself with Consumer Affairs before signing, and ask for two or three projects finished in the last couple of years.
