In a February 2024 review, a customer whose earlier contractors had not followed through said the process with Kristie and Joel was smooth from beginning to end. In a January 2026 review, a customer said they spent $12,000 on a system that was installed incorrectly and never heated or cooled the space; when they asked the company to look at it twice, they were told they were mistaken, and other companies they called described the installation as "criminal." The company says Joel Tognarelli founded it in 1999 and that it focuses on heat pumps, mini-splits, hybrid hot water heaters and gas furnaces in Western Massachusetts. Joel C Tognarelli's Massachusetts HVAC licence, 78-SM-M1, is active on the state registry. A June 2018 Daily Hampshire Gazette article reported that Sandri Energy acquired Tognarelli Heating & Cooling from Joel and Kristi Tognarelli. A February 2021 Recorder article dated that acquisition to 2017.

We spent $12,000 on a system that was installed incorrectly and never worked. We asked them to come take a look twice to explain that the HVAC system never warmed or cooled the space and they just told us we were mistaken. I had the system looked at by several other companies who said that the installation was "criminal" and extremely negligent. At this point we need to pull the system and start over with new equipment from another company.
3-4 different techs have been out to my house over the years and none of them materialized (covid, unanswered emails, low staffing, incomplete assessments, little support on the rebate process, needed to hire my own electrician, etc). ). The process with Kristie and Joel was smooth and simple from beginning to end. On time, clear explanations, good advise to do the whole house option rather than 2 units, great communication. Kristie managed the entire rebate process which was the most intimidating aspect of it for me. I can't recommend enough. My water is hot, my basement is heated and my rebate check just arrived.
