Troila Renovations describes itself on its Houzz profile as a small family business that works on one project at a time. In a 2025 review, a customer said the work was adequate as far as it went, but that he agreed to do some bathroom painting and didn't. That 2025 customer also said he left with one of the shower fixtures the customer had said they were keeping, and that he said he'd drop it off but never did. In a 2023 review, a customer said they paid Mike a deposit of 2400 dollars to remodel their bathroom, then asked for the deposit back after the customer's wife was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, about a month before the job was to start. In that 2023 review, the customer said Mike and Darlene refused to give the deposit back, saying the customer had broken the contract.
Work was adequate - a far as it went. However, he agreed to do some bathroom painting, and didn't. He also left with one of my shower fixtures I told him I was keeping, but he left with it. When I called him to tell him I wanted it back, he said he'd drop it off, but never did. I even threw in a c-note tip for the work he did do. Wasted money. A man's word is his bond. I wouldn't hire him again.
We hired Mike to remodel our bathroom. We payed him a deposit of 2400 dollars for the job. About 2 months after we payed the deposit and a month before the job was to be started, my wife got diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. We first asked to postpone the job but as we found out what my wife's treatment would entail, we decided to ask for our deposit back. We didn't know what my wife's future holds so how could we possibly plan a renovation down the road. Also now having extra costs for treatments and hospital stays we could really use that deposit back. Mike and Darlene refused to give us our deposit back. Darlene even accused my wife of trying to manipulate them with her cancer to get the deposit back. They said we broke the contract so we are not getting the deposit back. Yes we did break the contract but it was an extenuating circumstance. All we asked for was a little compassion but there was none to be had. My advice is to put in your contract that if you get a life threatening diagnosis, you will be entitled to get your deposit back.
Troila renovations home remodeling is literally the reason why BBB exists. We hired them to do some tile work and plumbing in our bathroom and the results were not only disappointing they were very amateurish.
