A 7inch rain hit in August 2024, and a Google reviewer who had just had an interior French drain and sump pump put in wrote back the same month: the basement stayed bone-dry. United Waterproofing is a Ridgefield company doing basement drains, sump pumps and flood cleanup; its website says it has been in business 20 years and offers 24/7 emergency service. It holds 4.9★ from 95 Google ratings. Matt is the name customers write about. In a September 2026 review, a homeowner described his crew removing drywall about 2 feet up, jackhammering the basement perimeter, installing drains and a battery back up sump pump, re-pouring the floor and repairing the drywall — with no water through a wet summer. An August 2026 customer who had four contractors quote the job said United started within one week, when the others said 5-6weeks. A September 2026 review describes a full French drain installed within a 3 day span in a finished basement. In an October 2024 review, after the August 2024 storm, Matt's crew demoed drywall and flooring in about 2 days, upgraded a crushed French drain pipe to SDR 8 inch, and dug a trench across a yard with an inground pool. Jason's name comes up too: a November 2023 customer wrote that his team identified a solution after a fall flood and left the work area spotless, and an August 2023 review describes him waterproofing a restaurant. A January 2025 customer said a failing pump was replaced at no charge within the warranty period. Scheduling drew a complaint. In an April 2024 review that still recommended the company, a customer wrote that a miscommunication with the office delayed the start by about a month, the date was pushed back at the last minute, and the crew arrived about 3 hours late on the first day — though the job then finished within the promised timeline. Its BBB grade is A+. Its Connecticut home improvement contractor registration, HIC.0647638, is active.
The basement waterproofing job was excellently done and their knowledge outperforms anyone in the industry.
Just had United Waterproofing waterproof my basement. Their knowledge of waterproofing is beyond any other company out there. I highly recommend them. Delia F
We had a water issue in the finished part of our basement, and Matt came quickly to address the problem. We had a full French drain installed within a 3 day work span — everything was meticulous. Would recommend again and again. Thank you, Matt, Willie, and team for a job well done.
Matt at United Waterproofing was fantastic to work with. I purchased my home, and was assured by the previous owner that the basement is always dry. That was not the case. I had 3 different companies come out to quote the job for full waterproofing. Matt's quote was competitive, and he was willing to work with my budget. During the quote process, Matt was the only 1 of the 3 who didn't speak to me like I was an idiot. If you're a woman, you know how this goes, especially with home projects. The other 2 quotes took entirely way too long; I had to cut one guy off and tell him I needed to get back to work after an hour. Matt knew his stuff, came out to look at my basement himself, took notes, explained what his crew would do, how long it should take and got back to me the next day with a quote. His crew removed the drywall about 2 feet up, jackhammered the perimeter of my basement, installed drains, and a battery back up sump pump, poured the back over the drains to re-do the floors, and repaird and painted the drywall. It's been a pretty wet summer, and I haven't had a drop of water come in since. Matt's communication has been great, he's always available by phone or text, and was just generally helpful, respectful, and informative throughout the entire project. I highly recommend United Waterproofing.
I recently had some fairly significant groundwater intrusion in my basement and had four waterproofing contractors inspect the house and quote the work. Matt at United was incredibly knowledgeable and quickly worked up a plan for remediation, including sump pump and interior French drain. Their cost was efficient, they got out within one week to start work (all of the other contractors told me I would have to wait 5-6weeks), and their crew did a fantastic job. Basement is bone dry and will stay that way for years to come!
