VESSEN

VESSEN — Vessen Home Improvements — is a Waltham handyman operation homeowners hear about as much by word of mouth as by searching: in late 2025, another local plumbing and heating contractor recommended calling Serge Vessen directly for smaller jobs for clients in Somerville, and a second Reddit thread the same year described him as reasonably priced and easy to schedule. Owner Sergey Ivashkevich holds an active Massachusetts home improvement contractor license. Its written reviews run 2021 to 2023 and describe the kind of fiddly small jobs that are easy to botch — flush-mount lighting installed patiently on a Sunday, a TV mount reworked until it looked right, doors replaced with clear communication about any added cost. On Thumbtack it carries a 5.0-star rating from 29 reviews, 97% of them five-star. Its own website describes the company as based in Medford, though the address on file for it is in Waltham — the phone number, domain, and license all point to the same business, so this reads like outdated location copy rather than a different company. The business also says its crew includes a licensed electrician, plumber, and general contractor, though no license numbers back that claim. For the smaller jobs — mounting, lighting, doors, drywall, and similar interior fixes — around Waltham and the surrounding towns, the record so far points to careful, communicative work; worth confirming current scheduling and rates directly given how much of its business travels by referral.
