Viking Floors Inc is a family-run hardwood specialist out of Middleboro, and the work it advertises is narrow on purpose: installation, sanding, staining and refinishing, plus repair and partial replacement of wood floors and laminate. Free estimates, and it lists emergency service — unusual for a flooring outfit. The reputation is a small one and, more to the point, an old one. Eight ratings averaging 4.8 sit on its Angi profile, seven of them five stars and one a three, and that written record runs from 2010 to 2013 with nothing added since. Those accounts describe a two-man, owner-and-father operation doing refinishing jobs priced anywhere from a few hundred dollars to several thousand — but they are more than a decade old, and a crew, a price and a standard of finish can all change in that time. The same eight reviews also appear word for word on HomeAdvisor, which mirrors the Angi page down to the star bar. Two sites, one set of customers — read it as eight opinions, not sixteen. One of those eight is a genuine complaint: poly left in globs, stain on the baseboards, and the job left unfinished, with the owner phoning afterwards to apologise and offer to put it right. It is a fair thing to raise on the phone, less as an accusation than as a question about how the company handles a finish that goes wrong. Worth knowing: Angi's profile carries a "78 years of experience" field that lines up with nothing else on the page and should not be taken as trading history. Neither directory publishes a licence number, and Massachusetts does not require home improvement contractor registration for floor-covering-only work, so its absence here says nothing either way. This is a plausible call for a straightforward hardwood refinish or a wood floor repair in the Middleboro area, particularly if you want an owner on site rather than a crew. Given how dated the public record is, ask for two or three references from the last year, get the finish schedule and the number of poly coats in writing, and confirm who is actually doing the sanding.

Did a great job. Replaced damaged hardwood floors in two rooms and made other helpful recommendations. Would recommend Viking Floors.

They did a nice job to start but we are now noticing that there are globs of poly all over the place and stain all over the baseboards. They also didn't complete the job. They acted like they were going to come and finish but they never even showed up. No call or anything. It's a shame because I chose this company based on the feedback on Angie's list. As an update: Eric from Viking Floors called me shortly after this was posted and apologised. He is willing to fix the problem in any way that we would like The phone call and extension of service is appreciated.

Eric came soon after we called to give us an estimate and scheduled us based on a timeframe we requested a few weeks out. During that time he got busy so he called ahead and asked if we could push it back a week which was fine with us. Since it was a white wash he put down the stain and had us come check it out before he applied the poly. It was gorgeous! We are so happy with the finished product - the floors are the star of house! I would definitely worth with Viking again!

Absolutely outstanding! Not only was this company the cheapest, the finished product looked better than it did when first installed! I could see my reflection in the floors. The color and reflective properties were absolutely consistent throughout the house. It was a masterful result! If I ever have a floor resurfaced, there is no question who I will be calling on again!
