Village Construction Inc works out of Charlton, Massachusetts, and the handful of customers who have written about it split cleanly in two — people who had work done were happy, and people who only asked for a price were not. On the work itself, the accounts are positive and reasonably specific. A homeowner writing in February 2024 said Richard and his crew were professional and receptive about coordinating around other trades already on site. A customer in November 2023 described excellent work quality, a fast job and a site cleaned up afterwards, and noted the installer turned up in a large truck stocked with the right materials and well-kept tools — which, they said, gave them confidence the crew could handle surprises. An October 2023 reviewer said the estimate and installation date came back quickly, the price sat at the lower end of what they were quoted elsewhere, and the crew arrived on time. The complaints are a different matter entirely. Two reviewers in November 2024 described being charged a $15 service-call fee simply for requesting an estimate by text through Thumbtack, before anyone visited the property — one said the charge stood even after they told the company they had hired someone else, while also acknowledging the fee had been mentioned to them. Nothing in those reviews disputes the workmanship; the dispute is entirely about how enquiries are billed. One operational note worth planning around: the same November 2023 customer who praised the work said the installer did not speak English well, and that a third person kept in constant contact by text instead — including sorting out a missed step, after which the installer returned immediately. With only five reviews on file, all from 2023 and 2024, this is a thin record and a single new review would move it a long way. If you approach them, settle the estimate policy in writing first — ask plainly whether a quote costs anything and under what conditions — and agree who your day-to-day point of contact will be.

⭐️ Beware of the $15 Text Message Toll! ⭐️ If you’re looking for a contractor who charges you $15 just for texting them, then Richard from Village Construction is your guy! 🎉 I reached out for an estimate through Thumbtack, and before he even set foot on my property, I got hit with a “service call” fee. Apparently, sending text messages now counts as premium service! 😂 I politely told him I went with another company (because, you know, options), and boom—$15 charge for the privilege of declining his services. I guess Richard’s texts are made of gold? 💸 To be fair, he did mention this fee was somewhere in the fine print on Thumbtack. But seriously, charging people for not hiring you? That’s a new one! Maybe next time I’ll get charged for thinking about hiring him. 🤔 Long story short: If you’re into paying fees for text messages and love surprises in your inbox, give Richard a call. Otherwise, swipe left. 🚫

Richard & crew were very professional and receptive to any concerns I had about coordinating their work with other work I had going on. I was very satisfied with the results. I would definitely use their services again.

Excellent work quality. Fast, and cleaned up after the job was finished. I also noticed that the installer arrived in a large truck filled with relevant materials/tools and used high quality tools that were in very good condition - it gave me lots of confidence that they would be able to manage unforseen circumstances. Outstanding communication even though I only speak English and the installer did not speak English too well. A 3rd person kept in constant communication with me via text message. This also included a quick back and forth about a missed step and the installer came back immediately to finish. I was really impressed with this customer service!

Village construction was print in responding to request for estimate and installation date. Price was compatible with others and on lower end. They showed up on time. They were polite and got the job done. Would highly recommend them.
