Thirty-eight Google ratings averaging 4.9, and the work behind them is the kind you can picture: a 35-by-6-foot farmer's porch finished in under three weeks, an addition the size of a full house, a wood stove hearth with a matching accent wall, an interior stairway, a patio pavilion sided to match the house.
Vision Construction & Design works from 50 Grand Army of the Republic Highway in Swansea and describes itself as a family owned and operated company serving Massachusetts and Rhode Island — new construction, additions, remodels, garages, accessory dwelling units, roofing, siding, windows and doors, decks. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active. Reviewers keep naming Manny, called the owner in a 2022 review, along with the responsiveness of a small shop: calls returned, questions answered.
The most useful positive account came in March 2025. A customer who had them build an addition "essentially a full sized house" said the bid came in 30% below other quotes for the same materials, and that the team kept proposing ways to make the build smoother. A 2024 reviewer listed six separate jobs at one house over time — flooring, storm and entry doors, the hearth, the stairway, the pavilion and a farmer's porch — and described clean, timely work throughout.
Then there is the one-star from March 2026, and it is specific about money. The customer wanted an addition on a raised ranch, paid $5,000 up front for stamped engineering plans and an itemized scope, and says what arrived was builders' plans and floor plans instead, after two meetings and communication they describe as laborious. That is a recent complaint about deliverables and a deposit, and it is the thing to resolve before handing anything over.
The timing around it is worth knowing too: nine five-star reviews were posted between 17 March and 9 May 2026, in the days and weeks straight after that one-star, and several say nothing about an actual job — one is from someone whose first appointment had not happened yet.
Separately, in November 2021 the Hopkinton Independent covered a Conservation Commission session where an engineer appearing for an applicant named Vision Construction & Design asked to amend a notice of conditions after vegetation was disturbed on an Ash Street site; the engineer said the original plan had been drawn by an engineer who quit the day the excavator arrived and never coordinated with the commission. The report names no address and Hopkinton sits fifty miles from Swansea, so it may be a different firm of the same name — a fair question to put to them.
For a porch, a deck, a garage or an addition on the South Coast, the body of specific praise here is real and runs back to 2022. Put the design-phase deliverables in writing before any deposit: exactly what "plans" means, who stamps them, and by when.
