Read the last three years of Wellen Construction's Google reviews and one thing jumps out: most were written by dentists. Oral surgery suites, a Hingham dental practice this March, dermatology offices in Brookline and Burlington — this Southborough company has become the crew Boston-area medical practices call when they build a clinic. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active, held in the company's own name. The residential side is real too. BBB lists it under home builders — single-family homes, spec homes, custom homes — and its Houzz listing runs to custom homes, additions and whole-house renovations. Boston Magazine credited Wellen as the contractor on a Brookline sunroom renovation in 2020, and a 2025 LinkedIn post from a Matterport vendor showed a full renovation and expansion of a family home in Cambridge underway. The praise has a consistent shape: schedules, and the person running them. Reviewers name their project managers — Diego Solimine, Rob, Adam, Justin Lopez — and describe them on site daily. In a 2023 review, a dentist recounted a 2019 ground-up build: 4,200 square feet and over 1.5 acres cleared in eight months, no significant change orders, and while Wellen wasn't the cheapest bid, the writer figured the build time paid the difference back. Google sits at 4.9 across 28 ratings, and across 31 reviews stretching from 2014 to 2026, not one is negative. Two things to raise before you call. First, fit: the recent, detailed accounts are commercial healthcare build-outs, and the six residential reviews on Houzz were posted between February 2014 and September 2016 — all by architects and designers who worked alongside Wellen rather than by the homeowners. Second, in a 2022 analysis of a Massachusetts court ruling, a law firm described a fire in a house Wellen built in 2002; the maker of the rope lighting Wellen had installed tried to shift responsibility to Wellen, and the court held that claim time-barred under the statute of repose. Nothing was decided about the quality of Wellen's work. Separately, BuildZoom lists an EPA renovation registration for the company as inactive, which matters if your house predates 1978. For a custom home or a large addition in Greater Boston — especially one where an architect is already driving the design — Wellen is a credible call. Ask for recent residential references, confirm the lead-safe certification directly if your home is older, and ask which project manager would run your job. That name is the thing every reviewer remembers.

“The home was originally built in 2002 by Wellen Construction (Wellen). As part of the original construction, Wellen installed rope lighting manufactured by Wangs in the house.”

“The extensive list of collaborators for this project includes LDa Architects, Wellen Construction, Phil Mastroianni Landscape Construction, and Boston Tennis Court.”
“BUILDER Wellen Construction”
I had an excellent experience working with Wellen Construction while building Heart of Hingham Dental Aesthetics. Their entire team was incredible - fast, efficient, and extremely thorough throughout the entire process. The quality of the work and attention to detail really stood out, and they kept everything moving smoothly and on schedule. My project manager, Mark Ventura, was truly fantastic to work with. He made the entire process feel easy and stress-free, was always responsive, and consistently advocated for me whenever needed. It’s rare to find someone who is both highly professional and genuinely great to work with. I’m so grateful for the work they did and would absolutely recommend Wellen Construction to anyone looking for a reliable, high-quality construction team.
We had a fantastic experience working with Wellen Construction and couldn't be happier with the end result. Dan Luthern and Justin Lopez were an absolute pleasure to work with from start to finish. They were professional, communicative, and genuinely invested in getting things right. Justin was on site early every single day, which set the tone for the entire project. He thought of every single detail and made sure things were executed perfectly. The consistency and commitment made everything run seamlessly and gave us real confidence that the job was in good hands. It's rare to find a crew that shows up not just on time, but ahead of schedule. Dan was equally great -- easy to reach, clear in his communication, and always on top of the details. Together, they made what can often be a stressful process feel smooth and straightforward. We're thrilled with how everything turned out and would highly recommend Wellen Construction to anyone looking for a team that takes real pride in their work. We'll absolutely be calling them again for future projects!
We had an excellent experience working with Wellen for the construction of our new dental office. From the initial planning stages to the final completion, their team demonstrated outstanding professionalism, organization, and attention to detail. Wellen clearly understands the specific requirements of dental clinics and built the space with an efficient layout, proper construction systems, and the correct infrastructure for dental equipment. Every aspect of the project—from plumbing and electrical work to equipment integration—was handled carefully and professionally. A special thank you to Shawn and James, our main construction representatives, who were incredibly helpful throughout the entire process. They were responsive, knowledgeable, and ensured that everything progressed smoothly and efficiently. Shawn, who was our on site manager make sure the office is completed in proper form and worked above and beyond to get my dental office permit. Also, James make sure even after construction is finished, that after care or any minor issue is solved on their hand. The project was completed efficiently, communication was clear throughout, and the quality of the work exceeded our expectations. Our office is functional, modern, and designed to support a smooth workflow for both staff and patients. Lots of my patients complement how beautiful my office is built. I highly recommend Wellen to anyone looking to build or renovate a dental clinic. Their expertise in dental office construction truly shows in the final result.
Wellen was a fantastic group to work with. They genuinely care about their work, they do not cut corners, and do a great job keeping you informed about their progress. I felt that they listened to my concerns and helped me troubleshoot any unexpected scenarios that popped up. In terms of timeline, they were very good at setting reasonable completion dates and we stayed on schedule. I will be looking to them again when I'm ready to expand my business further!
My wife and I had a great experience working with Wellen. Working with Justin Lopez and Dan Luthern was very seamless. They were always available to answer our questions. Justin had gone above and beyond with his duties. Very professional. We very much informed throughout the process. They also helped us very much communicating with the local government for our permits. I would highly recommend them to anybody who's looking to start their clinics. Cannot say enough great things about them.
