West Mountain Construction, which several reviewers call WM Home Improvement, is a Hyannis general contractor run by Marcelo and Jackeline. The company says Marcelo founded it in 2016. It remodels kitchens, bathrooms and basements, builds additions and decks, and installs siding across Cape Cod. It holds 4.8 stars from 46 Google ratings. Customers from 2023 into 2026 describe jobs from ceiling repairs to basement renovations. In an October 2025 review, a customer said a total bathroom remodel was done with the electrician coordinated by Marcelo and the site left clean each day. A December 2024 customer said Marcelo came within a few hours to assess a leaky ceiling, then fixed it quickly at an affordable price. A November 2024 reviewer described three closets built the day before Thanksgiving, and an August 2024 customer got photo and FaceTime updates while a shower drain and dry well went in. Two detailed 1-star reviews, from July and August 2026, each describe a renovation that fell weeks behind, damaged the home and was abandoned; both mention an infant son. The July 2026 reviewer says no plumbing or electrical permits were pulled, an unlicensed plumber did plumbing and electrical work, a cut wire was left exposed, and Marcelo walked off the job. That reviewer says they were quoted over $10,000 to fix the plumbing and were displaced for more than three months. The August 2026 reviewer says the approved cabinet drawings were not followed and the cabinets were damaged, the plumbing was sloped the wrong way, wastewater was poured into their landscaping and belongings were broken, and that the home is no longer code compliant. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, #188708, is active on the state registry. BBB grades it A+ (not accredited).
Extremely disappointed with our experience. The project scheduled to start April 27th and completed on May 28th fell four weeks behind schedule, and after requesting a recovery schedule, we received no response. On June 16th West Mountain abandoned the job. West Mountain failed to follow the approved cabinet drawings, resulting in damaged cabinets during installation and additional damage during an unsuccessful attempt to correct the mistake. Waste water was poured into our landscaping, and several of our personal belongings were broken, including picture frames and decorative lanterns. We were also told they would contact us to resolve these issues, but we have yet to hear from anyone in “leadership” as posted in their previous review response. In an attempt to conceal their deception, West Mountain reused previously code complaint piping within the wall, and removed the date of the original town inspector label. In addition, the plumbing was sloped in the wrong direction, back towards the laundry unit. Due to the issues created, we are actively seeking the service of a new contractor to put our home back together, creating additional cost and time out of our home with our infant son. Additionally, our home is no longer code compliant leading to further complications in being issued an “after the fact permit”. Poor communication, lack of accountability, damage to our home and belongings, poor site cleanliness, breach of contract, and substandard workmanship made this a very frustrating experience. I would not recommend this contractor to anyone.
