Wheaton Electrical Service has been doing electrical work out of Waltham since 1971, and its Google page — 4.7★ from 64 ratings — backs up a 43-review track record running back to 2021. Its Massachusetts electrician license is verified active with the state, and BBB has it accredited since 2018 with an A+ grade. The dominant story in the reviews is speed: person after person describes calling with a problem — a lost internet connection, an outlet that quit, power out overnight — and getting a callback or a technician within 20 minutes, often same day or the next morning. In a March 2026 review, one customer said Wheaton bailed them out after a different electrician they had hired left an unpermitted, substandard service-panel job unfinished; Paul came out the next day to sort it out. In a 2025 review, another described Wheaton fixing an outlet issue after a new stove install left it unusable, and in a 2024 review a customer said Wheaton walked their father through an AC troubleshooting call over the phone at 7:30 on a Saturday morning. It also handles commercial work — in an early-2022 review, someone who works for SERVPRO described using Wheaton on countless emergency restoration jobs over the years, including a large rewiring project at a Lincoln, MA supermarket. The names Paul, Tim, Steve, Nick and Grant come up repeatedly across years of reviews — a small, consistent crew rather than a rotating cast. It is not spotless. In a 2025 review, a customer said two hardwired lamps Wheaton installed later overheated and one could not be turned off, and getting a callback took threatening to file a complaint. A 2024 review described a quoted baseboard-heater job that never got a quote or the promised visit, and the customer was later invoiced for work that was never done (the invoice was voided). And a 2021 review said an initial site visit never turned into a quote or a started project despite follow-up calls. These read as exceptions in an otherwise heavily positive record, but worth knowing going in. For a routine call, an outlet swap, or a middle-of-the-night emergency, this is the kind of shop with both the response times and the tenure to back it up. For a bigger or more involved job, it is worth pinning down the quote and timeline in writing before assuming a visit means the work is actually scheduled.
Wonderful service. Got everything done and left the place cleaner than he found it. Will definitively use again.
I've had numerous jobs, big and small, done in my house by Wheaton over the years. Everything was perfect. Many thanks to the Wheaton team for their excellent turnaround time and service. Overall, I had a great experience. Highly recommend this company for all your electrical needs.
Wheaton Electrical bailed me out of quite a jam. I hired a different electrician based on a recommendation to upgrade my service panel and install some outside lighting. Because of the recommendation, I didn't check him out as well as I should have. He lied about getting a permit, the work was substandard, and on the day he was supposedly going to get it inspected, just stopped showing up. Yikes! Not surprisingly, I had quite a bit of trouble finding somebody willing to clean up somebody else's mess. Wheaton Electrical to the rescue! After I got in touch with Paul, he came over the next day to look at the situation, and they started work on it the following morning. In less than two days, the work was done and the mess was gone. Although I am not an electrician, I have been working with electricians professionally for 30 years and the two that Wheaton Electrical sent were first-rate. They were professional, very easy to work with, and did high quality work. Wheaton Electric got the permit and it just sailed through inspection as I knew it would. Price was about 20% higher than I estimated, but electricians are in incredible demand right now and good ones are worth the cost. Especially when they show up right on time and do everything right. Like Wheaton Electrical.
Our floor lamp had been tipped over and broken so I thought I'd try a local company vs a lighting company further away. I called Wheaton on a weekend, got their answering service, and got a call back right away. After dropping off the lamp I was called back in under 5 minutes bc Tim had already fixed it! No charge, really appreciate the service and honesty.
Paul and Company never disappoint. his crew are extremely good at what they do. they are clean, professional and respectful. 5 stars isn't enough they have earned a 6th star!
