William Niland Roofing and Carpentry Services

One Arlington-area homeowner called about a roof leak and had Bill Niland on-site and finished with asphalt tile repairs and bee-proofing caulk the same day, at what the reviewer calls a very good price. William Niland Roofing and Carpentry Services is a veteran-owned, Arlington, Massachusetts roofing and carpentry business; Angi and HomeAdvisor both list a trade license number (196837) for the company, though it hasn't been independently verified against a state registry. Angi and HomeAdvisor each show 75 reviews averaging 4.9★, with 96% five stars — a much larger history than what's individually readable here, which is just three reviews. Both of the ones from this year are strongly positive: one describes a same-day roof-line repair with loose tiles fixed and gaps sealed against bees, and another says Bill answered a call for help right after it was placed and had the roof fixed that same day. A testimonial dated January 2022 describes a similar story — a 6 a.m. call about a flat, foam, or single-ply roof problem answered and fixed by 7:30 that morning. One account stands apart from the rest. In a 2023 review, a customer said Bill was on-site only about 15 minutes for a moss-removal job and the moss was still there afterward, leaving them disappointed — worth asking about directly if moss or algae treatment, rather than a repair, is what you need done. For a roof leak or a same-day repair, the reviews here point to a fast, responsive one-person operation at a fair price; for a moss or algae treatment job specifically, ask upfront what the visit will include, since that's the one account that didn't go as expected.
