When Trahant Roofing shows up, it shows up in numbers: a November 2017 story on itemlive.com described a 28-man team stripping the old tiles off the roof of Mr. Specs, replacing broken boards and reshingling. BuildZoom counts 766 permitted projects under the company, mostly roofing. Safety is the part to weigh before you call. OSHA cited William Trahant, Jr. Construction, Inc. for one willful, one repeat and three serious violations of workplace safety and health standards. In August 2017, Business Insurance reported that an administrative law judge of the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission affirmed citations and proposed fines against a Massachusetts roofing contractor who failed to appear at his scheduled hearing; the commission's own site carries William Trahant Jr. Construction, Inc. dba William Trahant Roofing. The company's BBB profile, filed under William Trahant Jr. Construction, Inc. of Swampscott, carries a D- grade for failing to respond to two complaints brought there. BuildZoom lists several Massachusetts contractor numbers for the business, among them home improvement contractor #178945 and construction supervisor specialty CSSL-106284 — check each against the state register yourself. For a large reroof where crew size and speed decide the job, this is an outfit that plainly does the volume. Before you sign, ask directly about the OSHA citations and what came of the two BBB complaints, and get the registration and insurance in writing.
