WTPI Service is a Pittsfield heating and cooling company that Berkshire County homeowners call when something has stopped working, usually in the cold. Massachusetts lists an active HVAC licence, 12464-SM-M1, in the name of Norman P Lee, and the Better Business Bureau has accredited the business since July 2013 and grades it A+. Speed is the thing customers write about most. One homeowner in 2025 woke to a flooded basement and had a technician on site inside thirty minutes; another whose ancient furnace quit in 2024 found WTPI the first to answer the phone and at the door within half an hour; a 2022 caller who rang at 5:50am had the owner on site by ten, finding sludge in the tank and replacing the oil pump and coupler. In a 2023 review, a customer whose air conditioning failed on the Fourth of July was seen in two days after the installer of their mini-split quoted four weeks. Several customers name the people: Cory, John, Jonah, Don, and Lorraine in the office. Norman himself turns up on jobs and, one 2023 customer wrote, called personally afterwards to check the work was satisfactory. The work spans boiler and furnace replacements, oil tank replacement brought up to code, hot water heaters, duct and furnace cleaning, and heat pump and mini-split installation — including a 2023 Pittsfield condo job where the old attic unit had to come out by crane. They also take on equipment other shops decline: a 2023 customer got a Toyotomi oil-fired on-demand heater fixed after calling everywhere in Western Massachusetts, and a 2024 reviewer describes them wrestling a difficult Viessmann back into service. The pattern in the complaints is worth knowing before you call. Across several years, more than one customer describes a diagnosis they came to distrust: a 2026 reviewer says a furnace elbow WTPI called cracked only needed tightening, and was still charged $110; a 2025 reviewer was quoted $12,000 to $14,000 for a new boiler and says they found the needed parts online for about $300; a 2023 customer says three mini-splits went in working and came out not, with an $11,000 replacement quoted and, they say, condescending treatment on the phone. A 2024 reviewer reports paying $735 for a glycol flush and tune-up that left the system unusable, and a 2021 customer describes a tankless repair that got worse. A few others say calls and estimate requests went unreturned. A reasonable call for emergency heat and hot water in the Berkshires, especially for unusual equipment. If the answer comes back "this needs replacing," get the diagnosis and the part numbers in writing and price a second opinion before committing.
I’ve held off reviewing WTPI as I wanted to go through the full heating season with my newly installed Williamson heater and Bradford hot water heater. First, may I say Cory was a total pro and gentleman. WTPI kept to their schedule with no delay. Pipe work and removal/replacement of unit went perfectly. It has operated flawlessly and has noticeably saved oil cost with a highly efficient AFUE rating. Thank you to Norm and the entire team.
Ibhad diagnostic work done and they figured out was wrong. While I did have an issue with the payment, they worked with me to resolve the payment issue. Great affordability for the diagnosis.
They did come in a timely fashion for a leak, but said an elbow on the furnace was cracked and needed to be replaced. They installed my brand new furnace 2 years ago. The part was not, in fact, cracked. It only needed to be tightened. I cancelled their return visit, and told them about the error, but still was required to pay $110. That is not good business. I wouldn't use them again.
Seamless service. Don went above and beyond. Very helpful.
Cory did great work on my older, badly installed furnace/water heater tank system that came with the house. He is very knowledgeable and creative! When the system finally crashed, we discussed the work and they wrote up a quote very fast so I could go to the bank for financing. When it was all done, they ordered the equipment quickly and, though it didn't come quickly, once it was here they got right to work on the installation. I now have a very impressive looking on demand system that was installed promptly and with care. I highly recommend this company!
