Yankee Home Improvement is a replacement shop: windows, entry doors, hot water heaters, and the tub-to-shower conversion that turns an old bathroom into a walk-in shower. It works out of Chicopee, and the company says it has been remodeling since 2008 and keeps offices in Massachusetts, Connecticut and New York, covering an area it describes as stretching from Albany to Wrentham. When an install goes well, customers describe the same three things: on time, quick, clean. A July 2023 Houzz reviewer wrote that Joey and his teammate worked quietly and cleaned every area they touched on a new walk-in shower. A February 2021 Angi customer who had front and back doors redone said the installers were on time, quick and left no mess. An August 2026 reviewer says the project was completed on time and everyone was responsive to questions. Price is where the unhappy reviews start. Three customers — writing in March 2019, November 2019 and May 2025 — called the work expensive; the November 2019 one still liked the new doors and noted the job was finished in one business day. The other two go further. In March 2019, a HomeAdvisor reviewer reported the installation took five months, that the wrong size was ordered and had to be re-measured, and that the property was not cleaned up. In August 2020, another described a fast-talking salesman and promises the company did not keep: told that Yankee comes to inspect a home after a year, they called twice and never got a call back. The most pointed account is also the most recent one. A May 2025 Angi reviewer said their front door was overpriced, installed incorrectly and in the wrong color, and that the company switched from a fiberglass door to a steel one to cut costs, so with southern exposure the door became extremely hot. Angi and HomeAdvisor both show 4.4 stars from 53 ratings, Houzz 4.7 from three. Its BBB page — accredited, A+, filed at a Colonie, New York address — lists Massachusetts registrations #160584 and #16080 plus Connecticut and Vermont numbers, and the company's own site adds a New Hampshire one. Plumbing is part of the mix too: residential plumbing and hot water heater replacement on the BBB listing, and a September 2026 trade job posting has Yankee hiring a licensed journeyman plumber for its Chicopee team. For a window, door or tub-to-shower job from a crew that shows up and cleans up, Yankee is a fair call. Put the exact product, material and color in writing before you sign, pin down the installation window, and ask what the one-year visit covers and who to call to book it.
