Yankee Oil is a heating-oil company that says it delivers oil in Mansfield, CT and surrounding communities, to both residential and commercial customers, and that it has been in business 40 years. A recent customer said the 400-gallon vertical tank they bought would not fit through their hatchway, so Rob, the head of the service department, had men lift the old tanks while he rebuilt their stands and raised them off the floor; that customer said it saved them several thousand dollars. A recent customer had a nearly 30-year-old oil tank removed and two ROTH tanks installed, twinned together, and said the quote was the only one of those compared that clearly outlined all costs and details upfront. A 2026 customer who was low on oil right before a big snowstorm said the delivery arrived on a Sunday, sooner than expected, and thanked Curtis. A 2024 customer said that in a big snowstorm years earlier, with the tank on empty, they called and the company came and helped. A 2026 customer said Rob Lathrop and his crew installed a new propane furnace on Christmas Eve, arriving at 7am and finishing by 1pm. A 2026 customer said a new Peerless boiler and an indirect water heating system replaced a 30-year-old Burnham furnace that was leaking from the heating coil. A 2023 customer said that when their boiler failed on a -4 degree weekend, a tech was there within a couple of hours and stayed until 9 PM to get them heat and hot water. A recent customer, who had used American Fuel Oil before Yankee Oil took over, said their oil delivery was refused over a gauge reading after the office asked how they knew they needed 150 gallons. A 2023 customer said the company would not come out for two days to a heat pump it had installed for the previous owner because they were not an established customer. A 2023 customer said their account was not closed after they called, and an automatic delivery came that they were asked to pay for.

Refused oil delivery over gauge reading. I used the American Fuel Oil guys for 10+ years, oil ordering was simple 30 second phone call. After Yankee Oil took over, it's a constant battle. Today the customer service lady asked me how I am sure I need 150 gallons if I don't know what the gauge reading is. I couldn't believe it. I own the house 10+ years, I think I know better than a receptionist how much oil I need. Rude and unprofessional customer service.
We were told we had to get a new oil tank and dismantle the old ones because their stands were rusted by another oil company. We got two bids to do the work including Yankee Oil. Unfortunately the oil tank we purchased (400 gallon vertical tank) would not fit in our hatchway. Rob, the head of the service dept. asked for 10 minutes to think of a new approach. He then had a number of men show up to lift the old oil tanks and he rebuilt the stands of the two tanks and raised them off the floor. So creative and customer oriented! Saved us several thousand dollars too!
Everything went exactly as planned. I received a very competitive quote that I compared against three others, and this was the only one that clearly outlined all costs and details upfront. The other quotes included several items listed as TBD, which made it difficult to know the final cost. The team removed my nearly 30-year-old oil tank and installed two ROTH tanks, professionally twinned together. The workmanship is excellent, and the finished installation looks exceptionally clean, as you can see in the photos. Both the technicians on-site and the office staff were friendly, professional, patient, and helpful throughout the entire process. If I have any future heating-related projects, I will definitely reach out to Yankee Oil again. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for quality work and outstanding customer service.
