Rafal Zelek is both the architect and the general contractor, and that is the whole pitch. A December 2017 client put it plainly: because the design and the build sit with one person, the project stayed on schedule and inside budget. A second reviewer that same month described design work on new homes, smaller renovations and historic sites. Those two accounts are the entire written record, and they are nearly nine years old. What is more current is the paper trail: BuildZoom lists seven permitted projects between 2013 and 2024 — kitchen and bath alterations, multi-family work in East Boston, a two-storey addition, jobs in Boston, Peabody, Belmont and Great Barrington — and scores the Swampscott firm 127, which it says puts it in the top 1% of Massachusetts contractors. BuildZoom also says it verified an active Massachusetts construction supervisor licence (CS-111727) in July 2026, and lists a home improvement contractor registration, 191049; HomeAdvisor lists that same number. Those are the directories' claims, not our verification. The services listed run from architectural design and design-build through general contracting, decks and porches, custom homes and kitchen design, with a stated LEED affiliation. One thing to raise directly: alongside the verified-licence badge, BuildZoom's profile also carries an "Alert - Unpaid Debt" flag. Ask about it, ask for references from a job finished in the last two years since the written reviews are so dated, and confirm the current status of both the construction supervisor licence and the home improvement registration with the state before signing.
