617 Home Improvement runs out of two Massachusetts addresses — a Malden storefront on Boston Street and a Woburn suite on Salem Street — under the corporate name Kitchen and Floor Decor Inc. Kitchen and bath remodeling is what it says it specializes in, and cabinets are clearly a large part of what it sells. That combination is where its sharpest complaint comes from. In an October 2023 Google review, a customer who spent over $10,000 on cabinets wrote that after installation — done by their own contractors, who lost a few of the small plugs that hold shelves in place — the company would not supply replacements and told them to take it up with their contractors. The same customer's account appears again on BBB, undated, with the same 'buyer beware' framing. It is one dispute, not two, and it is specifically about after-sale support rather than the quality of the goods. On Google the company sits at 3.9 across 11 ratings, and a November 2022 reviewer there was brief and positive about quality and price. Its Houzz page shows 5.0, but from only three reviews, and all three were posted on consecutive days in March 2019 — a burst, not a history. One of those, in March 2019, described a kitchen finished on time and on the original budget; another, the same week, described a whole-house remodel after moving in. BBB grades the business A+ while stating plainly that it is not accredited and that customer reviews play no part in that grade. It records the corporation as started in December 2017, with three employees and Kristina Filozova as president, and shows two license numbers on file — a construction supervisor licence, CS-112719, and home improvement contractor registration 193093. The company's own Houzz page prints CS-112710, a digit off from what BBB records. Neither number was checked against the state here, so get the current numbers from the company and verify them yourself with the Office of Public Safety and Inspections and the Office of Consumer Affairs. If you want cabinets and flooring supplied and installed by one outfit, this is a small, established shop with an eight-year corporate history. Before you order, pin down in writing what happens after installation — who supplies replacement hardware, and for how long. That is the one thing a customer has publicly said went wrong.

You get what you pay for and nothing more. My contractors had made a mistake in pulling out the shelves in the cabinets 617 Home Improvement ordered for me. I guess my contractors lost a couple of the little plugs to keep the shelves in place. After spending over $10K, you would think 617 Home Improvement would be able to give you a couple extra plugs but No Way - stating it wasn't their problem and that I should address it with my contractors. When I said that if she could just point me in the right direction to be able to order the plugs and send me a link to Amazon where I should purchase the couple of plugs, she said she wouldn't and then took 15 minutes to explain to me the same thing she already said- Basically it's not their problem and just figure it out! Not the best customer service and as a business owner myself (services), I would never have treated my customers like this. I would have at least sent the link to my customer so that they could more easily purchase the missing plugs. And when I got upset because the owner, Christina, had offered to send me the link to the right place to purchase the plugs, she reneged and told me they could sense hostility in my voice and that this is not their problem. It makes me very sad to see local businesses that need referral business not even try to make the customer happy or feel supported. So with that, please be careful because if anything goes wrong with your installation, 617 Home Improvement is not going to help you. Instead they are going to lecture you about how you should be blaming the contractors or others for any mistakes. I kept telling them that I understood and really was just looking for a solution. Same answer- I am not going to provide you with a link to where you can purchase more plugs. This is not my problem. So so sad! Buyer beware!
