When the plumber a Somerville homeowner had called about a leaking pipe simply never showed up, they left a message for A & A. In that August 2025 review, Michael Gogos texted back the same night, asked for photographs of the pipe and the area, and had answered by early the next morning. A & A Plumbing and Heating is Mike Gogos's Somerville company, described on its own site as licensed and insured. Its Google page holds a 5.0 rating across 39 ratings, and several reviewers have been calling him far longer than that: one writing in April 2025 says they have relied on him for more than 20 years, another in January 2025 has known him nearly 25, and a June 2024 landlord calls him their go-to plumber of more than six years at an old two-family house. The calls people describe are the ordinary emergencies of older housing. In April 2026 a customer with a water heater emergency says he was at the house within fifteen minutes and the replacement was finished that afternoon. A November 2025 customer lists a leaky sink drain, a new faucet and a capped gas line across several visits at a reasonable flat fee. In a March 2025 review a customer with a suspected gas leak says he was the only one who followed the line from where it entered the house to pinpoint it. Other accounts cover a toilet fill valve inside 24 hours, an unclogged garbage disposal, a leaking insinkerator, a dishwasher valve, and a weekend failure across two apartments whose shower valve he replaced first thing Monday. How he prices and explains comes up as often as the work itself. An October 2025 customer says he encouraged them to get other quotes; an August 2025 customer says he charged what he had quoted even though the job turned out slightly different; a February 2024 customer got an estimate over the phone from texted photographs and had the faucet replaced the same day in Somerville. A June 2024 caller says the fault turned out to be the refrigerator rather than the plumbing, and that he came back two days later anyway to help move it into place. The right call for a plumbing emergency around Somerville, for an old house with old pipes, or for a landlord who needs someone who will deal with tenants directly. Ask whether he can work a weekend if your timing is tight, and get the licence and insurance details in writing before a larger job.
Communication and responsiveness by Mike was excellent. He did a great job diagnosing the issue, explaining it, and then resolved it quickly. Very professional and honest. Absolutely would use his service again.
Mike is fantastic! I reached out with a water heater emergency and Mike was at my house to help within 15 min. He was professional, thorough, and did a great job replacing my water heater. The whole job was done in an afternoon.
I've called Mike for a few jobs over the years, including fixing a leaky sink drain, installing a new faucet, and capping a gas line. He's been available, reliable and professional each time and has done good work that lasted. For my jobs he quoted a reasonable flat fee and finished the work within the stated timeframe and cost. I would recommend Mike to friends and neighbors.
Michael was quick to return my call. Educated me on my options and even encouraged me to seek out other quotes. He was efficient, friendly, and did a great job.
Mike was AMAZING! Within an hour of calling him, he was over and had fixed the problem. Will absolutely be working with him in the future. Highly recommend!!
