Nine reviews, every one of them five stars, and the same two names keep coming up: Debbie Chesbrough, who designs the job, and Jeff Koss of Uprise Builders, who builds it. Accessible Solutions works out of 349 North Main Street in Andover, and the work is narrow on purpose - turning bathtubs into roll-in showers, hanging grab bars, and putting in ramps, stairlifts and vertical platform lifts for people whose homes stopped fitting them. The company describes itself as a family-owned business trading as a dba of Wood Wise Construction Inc., focused on accessible homes since 1994. It claims a CAPS credential (Certified Aging in Place Specialist) on its own site and on Houzz, and its BBB page has been accredited since 2013 with an A+ grade, four employees, and no complaints or government actions listed. What customers write about is the planning as much as the carpentry. A homeowner in October 2025 credited Chesbrough's design guidance on a full bathroom remodel; a July 2025 reviewer said the tub-to-walk-in-shower conversion was done on time with minimal disruption; another, in April 2025, described an accessible bedroom, bathroom and vertical platform lift drawn up in detail before any money changed hands. The most telling account is older: in a 2022 review, a customer described her coordinating a roll-in shower for a wheelchair user moving into a Southern New Hampshire condo, juggling the manufacturer, condo management, a general contractor and two plumbers to land it. Two things to sort out before calling. Most of these jobs are a partnership - Accessible Solutions designs and supplies, Uprise Builders swings the hammers - so ask who holds your contract and who warranties the work. And the licence numbers: Houzz lists CS 0446627 and HIC 115815 for the company, but those are the directory's claims, so check them against the state registry yourself. Sources also disagree on how long they have been at it, with BBB recording 47 years in business and Houzz tracing Wood Wise back to 1978, while the company's own site says over 37. The other honest caveat is depth. Nine reviews across Google and BBB is a short written history for a business this old, and the newest of them dates to October 2025 - consistent, but not thick. If your project is a bathroom that has to work for a wheelchair, a walker, or a body that changed suddenly, this is a shop that has done it before, and the reviews keep circling back to the design work rather than the tile. Get the arrangement with Uprise in writing, verify the licences, and ask for the two or three jobs closest to yours.
“We are very pleased with the services provided by Accessible Solutions and Uprise Builders. Debbie and Jeff did a wonderful job converting our bathtub into a walk-in shower.”
Accessible Solutions and Uprise Builders are fantastic! A+++. We had our bathroom remodeled. Debbie Chesbrough, owner of Accessible Solutions is a delight to work with. Her experience and guidance with the design helped tremendously. Communication was excellent. Jeff and his company, Uprise Builders, is the best contractor / team we have ever worked with. The quality of the work is outstanding, his communication excellent, always on time. His team always cleaned up at the end of each day, respecting our home by covering floors and putting up dust barriers. At the end of the project, he even has a cleaning crew come in. I will definitely use Accessible Solutions & Uprise Builders for any future renovations.
We are very pleased with the services provided by Accessible Solutions and Uprise Builders. Debbie and Jeff did a wonderful job converting our bathtub into a walk-in shower. The job was done on time with minimal disruption. The staff was professional and easy to communicate with. We highly recommend them.
The key ingredients that make Accessible Solutions and Uprise Builders a sublime partnership in collaboration with homeowners are clear communication and prompt follow-through. Their attention to detail, precision, and quality of work are displayed in all aspects of the project. In the beginning, we designed a plan together, complete with drawings and text, that was created from multiple in-person, phone, text/email brainstorming sessions. Before any payment was made, those hours invested set the tone for the big renovation project - accessible bedroom, bathroom, and vertical platform lift! It also laid the groundwork for exchanging ideas with respectful guidance given their expertise in the area. It is to be expected that with any large renovation project, especially with an old house, unexpected twists and turns as well as uncontrollable delays arise. But progress on our construction moved forward smoothly because of their experience anticipating such moments, appropriately pivoting and sharing decision making. They were very sensitive to our son’s challenges and his extensive support needs. They also demonstrated overall genuine care and compassion for his condition. AS and UB stayed within their budget, made changes in writing when necessary, were clean and neat on the job site, and completed the project within the general anticipated time frame (can’t help some delays outside their control). While we were under construction, three of our friends were doing renovations with other service providers. And all we ever heard from them were classic horror stories. But not us! We ended up with a beautiful and successful finish, as well as the bonus of a very warm relationship with two wonderful people. 5 stars! - Nancy & Gordon
We are deeply grateful to Debbie Chesbrough and Jeffrey Koss of the Accessible Solutions team for designing and delivering our home remodeling project on time and with great quality. Deb guided us every step of the way on how to make our home handicap friendly without compromising its aesthetics. She and Jeff helped plan the project meticulously, always seeking and incorporating our inputs. They were empathetic and flexible throughout the process, as our own thought process evolved on what was needed. The onsite construction team that Jeff assembled was professional and courteous. While there were the usual minor delays that a project like this will encounter, they were mostly due to delays in inspections or supply of parts. Deb and Jeff did everything in their power to have the project completed on time. I have nothing but high praise for Accessible Solutions and Uprise Builders. Deb and Jeff are not just top professionals but also great human beings. We were lucky to find them in our hour of dire need.
Worked with Debbie at Accessible Solutions on the re-design of my bathroom for wheelchair access. She was extremely helpful throughout the design and communicated every step along the way. I would highly recommend her to anyone needed help with hcap access.
