McSweeney Construction and Development Corp, run by president Brian McSweeney III out of Andover, describes itself on its own website as a commercial contractor working retail, corporate, healthcare and cannabis projects across Massachusetts — a 2021 Healthcare Design Magazine feature described a drive-thru testing and vaccination facility the company built, with a motorized canopy to shield staff and patients from the weather. That commercial focus sits alongside a residential side that Better Business Bureau lists directly: new construction, additions, kitchen and bathroom remodeling, siding and windows, on a BBB profile that grades the company A+ (though it isn't BBB-accredited). The written reviews on file back up the residential work specifically. In a 2018 review, a North End Boston condo owner described a remodel that turned complicated when water problems surfaced in the lower levels, crediting Brian with creative problem-solving on-site — and, years later when the unit sold, with promptly pulling together detailed renovation-cost records for taxes. In a 2015 review, a design-firm collaborator described projects ranging from an average remodel to a multi-million-dollar home, all delivered on the schedule promised. A couple of things are worth asking about directly. Houzz lists a Massachusetts contractor's licence, CS 67933, for the company, though that's the directory's own listing rather than a registry-verified one. And the company's website claims it has served Massachusetts for 'over 30 years,' while BBB's own profile puts the founding at 2000 — about 26 years — worth clarifying which figure is accurate. Given the split between commercial and residential work described across sources, confirm which side of the business fits your project, and ask for references specific to that scope before signing on.

“The drive-thru testing site and vaccination facility features a motorized canopy to protect staff and patients from the elements and perimeter sidewall curtains to provide a private patient experience.”
Brian and his crew did a quite complex remodeling job in my condo in the North End of Boston. The job became quite complex due to water issues in the lower levels. I can't say enough about the effort to solve unusual issues and the ability to think "out of the box". Years later I needed details about how much we expend in renovations, since I was selling the property and needed the info for tax calculations. Brian immediately sent us all the info, in details. Outstanding company, run by a truly nice and competent guy!!
I have been working with Brian McSweeney on a large scale home remodeling project and I can;t say enough good things about him and his crew. Brian is very knowledgeable, easy going and fun to work with. He delivers what he says, when he says on time every time which is very important when dealing with disrupting a client's home and their life. From large construction of a multi-million dollar home to an average size remodelingjob I would trust Brian to come through with a well built finished product.
