Affordable Heating and Air Conditioning describes its work on its website as HVAC services, from heating and air conditioning systems to installations, repairs and service contracts. The site lists a service area that includes Stratford, Bridgeport, Fairfield, Norwalk and Greenwich. A 2025 customer said the company replaced a mixing valve and that the technician was polite and the labor fair, but that the material pricing was inflated and the company refused to adjust the invoice, saying only "that's business." A 2025 customer who booked an annual furnace service said the technician did not show, then later called to say he would wait only if they could be there in five minutes. A 2024 customer said a technician told them they needed a new oil tank; that customer wrote that another company and a friend who does HVAC both said they did not need a new tank and needed a new relay box. A 2022 customer whose oil delivery company sent Affordable Heating for a heating maintenance special said the technician cleaned one pipe out, could not service the boiler and shut the system down without telling them. A 2021 customer said a technician refused service and walked away after a disagreement over masks. It holds an active Connecticut S1 heating and cooling contractor licence, HTG.0385999-S1, under Myron Smith Jr.
Do not use! I had Affordable Heating replace a mixing valve, and while the technician was polite, the material pricing was excessively inflated. They installed a Resideo Braukmann AM-1 valve that retails for about $150, but I was charged $540 for the part. A standard 3/4” shutoff valve that normally costs $30–$60 was billed at $177. When I questioned the pricing, the company refused to provide justification or adjust the invoice, saying only “that’s business.” Labor was fair, but the material markup was over 250–300%, which is far beyond normal. Posting this so others can be aware and request detailed pricing upfront.
Scheduled an annual service on my furnace since I used them last year and everything was good. This time the tech didn’t show and never got a call, so I called Parkway who said they would find out. Got a call back saying tech was on an emergency call and wouldn’t be able to make it until much later (4p). Said okay and asked that he call when on his way since I already took the morning off from work and had to go back in. Got a call from a rude tech saying “where are you, I’m outside “. Told him he was supposed to call me and he says “if you can’t be here in five minutes I’ll wait, otherwise I’ve got things to do”. Told him to kick rocks. Never using them again since they don’t mind wasting their customers time.
Don't buy the service contract it's a joke. I will never use them again
Unfriendly service and poor work quality. Seems like many others have had similar experiences.
Not recommended. I do strongly suggest you shop around prior to using them. A tech came out & told me he wasn’t able to fix my issue, I was advised that I needed a new oil tank, moments later he told me I was up & running again but I still needed to get it serviced (I thought that’s what he was doing). About two hours later I went to wash my hands my water was cold & heat wasn’t working. I called the company that sent them out & was told for 3 days straight that I would receive a call back (never did). However, By the 2nd day I called another company & a friend of mine who does HVAC they both came out & advised me that I DO NOT need a new tank, and I my heat/hw wasn’t working bc I needed a new relay box. I Called the company back the third day & finally got a call back from the manager few hours later, I explained I wasn’t looking for money back but I wanted to make note that I was misdiagnosed AND I was told by two different licensed techs that I don’t need a new oil tank. Manager had no accountability of his technician mistake however was full of excuses & “I’m not sure why, but I’ll look into that” To make matters worse; the technician was unprofessional. He yelled at my 2year old to turn his iPad down & when I asked a question regarding heat & hw his response was “stop trying to be a technician & let us do our job” I was simply trying to figure out if the boiler created heat along with the hw. 1/5 for unprofessionalism, misdiagnoses & not having accountability.
