Resurfacing a tired gunite pool — new plaster, new tile, new coping — is the job this Hudson, NH shop gets called for. The Better Business Bureau has the company open since 2003 under owner Charles C. Attardo, filed alongside the names Affordable Gunite Pools Inc. and Affordable Pools, LLC, and puts it at 23 years in business. Its own site claims 25 years of New England pool work and lists refinishing and replastering, gunite and concrete resurfacing, tile and coping, decks, spas, indoor and commercial pools, plus new gunite and vinyl-liner builds. The finish is what customers keep describing. A 2026 homeowner had coping, tile and plaster redone across a fall-to-spring project and called the run from estimate to completion smooth. In a 2025 review, a customer who had spent three years looking for a restoration company described meeting Chris to go through finishes, then a full scope — demo of tile, coping, plaster and an old brick patio, replaced with stamped concrete, new tile and a pebble surface — that ran on the schedule he was given. A 2024 reviewer singled out the coping and tile replacement and the crew cleaning up at the end of each day. On the service side, 2025 reviews describe a commercial pool leak traced and repaired and a failed heater fixed quickly. Google shows 4.5 stars from 22 ratings across a record running 2023 to 2026. What goes wrong, goes wrong after the crew leaves. A 2025 two-star review on a roughly $30,000 replaster and tile border reported cracking and gaps in the grout and an underwater leak that the return visit did not close, along with frustrating calls to the office. A 2023 customer said tiles began falling off within a year and that warranty calls went unanswered. Another 2025 reviewer said problems surfacing six weeks after the job were met with blame-passing. The BBB grade of A- carries the reason on its face: one complaint filed and not resolved, on a profile that also states the business is not BBB accredited. A 2024 four-star customer liked the pool and the sales walkthrough but said questions came back half-answered — the same theme. The website calls the crew licensed and certified without publishing a number or a certification name, and New Hampshire does not license pool contractors, so there is nothing there for a state registry to confirm. For a gunite replaster, tile and coping job in southern New Hampshire or greater Boston, they are a reasonable call; before signing, get the warranty in writing — what it covers on plaster, tile and grout, for how long, and who picks up the phone — and a named contact for the job.
Affordable Pools refurbished my pool (coping, tile plaster) last fall/this spring. The pool came out amazingly well and the process from estimate to completion was as smooth as the plaster came out in the end. Both the office team and the plaster crews were super professional and obviously very skilled. I would highly recommend Affordable Pools for your pool.
Overall, I would NOT recommend Affordable Pools as a contractor. We had an existing in-ground gunite pool get a new plaster finish and a new tile border. The project cost roughly 30k. Communicating with their office was very frustrating. A: After the project was finished, we noticed a number of issues with the grout around the tiles - an area underwater where it was leaking, and several areas where there were holes or gaps in the grout, and lots of cracking. They agreed to come do repairs, and they did address some of the issues, but did not fix the leak or the holes in the grouting. The crew left without even speaking to us, or asking us to check to make sure everything was fixed. When I followed up, asking for the repair crew to be sent back to fix the issues they left unaddressed, the office kept insisting it was “already fixed” (despite me sending updated photos of the issues) and it took me a number of persistent emails - and eventually I had to let them know I would be contacting my attorney because they were not honoring the warranty. Only at that time was I told “I didn’t have a valid claim for anything, but they would send someone out to look at my pool next week” - a crew arrived that Saturday at 8am without warning, let themselves onto my property, and fixed the issues that remained. So in the end, the issues were fixed, but it was a very frustrating process. B: Part of the project involved me coordinating a water delivery to fill the pool on the final day of the project work. I was told by the office that Affordable’s crew would finish by noon and I should schedule the water delivery for after 12 that day, so I did. However, the crew that was on-site doing the work insisted that we use our hose to start filling the pool immediately to ensure the plaster on the bottom was covered asap. But we have well water, and water from our hose has sediment in it. So the brand new white plaster finish was immediately stained in numerous places by the sediment from the hose. Had the office told us we would need to use our well water to fill the brand new pool prior to the water delivery, we would easily have ordered a sediment filter for the hose and prevented our new finish from being ruined literally 2 minutes after it was finished. It is so disappointing to look at those stains and know they could have been avoided with better communication and planning on the part of the contractor. C: I booked my pool renovation in December and we were told the project would start in early April. Every single week for 6 weeks in a row, we were told the crew would arrive and start the project. They did not communicate that they would not be showing up, and when I followed up each week I was told there was a delay but for sure that they would be there the following week. It was a very frustrating process to have the work not even begin until the end of May. All in all, a VERY frustrating experience. I would not recommend this company.

Affordable Pool Repair did a great job fixing a leak on our commercial pool. Their team was very responsive and scheduled a visit without delay. The technician who came was very professional, on time, and seemed to know exactly what they were doing. They were very clear about the cost of the service upfront. Overall, I recommend them for their outstanding service!
