Price is the thing people keep mentioning. A Reddit commenter in r/WorcesterMA said in August 2026 that Air Temperature Service gave "by far lowest quote I got," and that note runs through the reviews for a decade: fair, reasonable, way under the competitors. The shop works out of Grafton and says it has been owner-operated since the founder opened it in 1981 — HVAC school straight out of high school, three companies, then his own — which it puts at 45 years in business. The work is residential heating and cooling across Middlesex and Worcester County: heat pumps and ductless systems, air conditioning, furnaces and boilers, ductwork, repairs and maintenance plans. Its Massachusetts HVAC licence, 271-SM-B, is active on the state registry, and its Better Business Bureau page is an A+ with accreditation going back to 2009. What customers describe is a quick fix at a number nobody beat. In a January 2025 review, a homeowner whose heat quit on the coldest weekend of the month wrote that a larger company couldn't come for two days; Air Temp came first thing Monday, drove to Andover for the part and had the system running by noon. A 2020 Angi reviewer priced a heat-pump job at $24,000 and credited Jay Conti's crew with not overselling and with working the Mass Save and Bryant rebates into the cost — the company lists itself as a Mass Save Certified Heat Pump Contractor. After weeks without A/C, a July 2025 customer had the old system out and a new one in inside a day, "the only thing left behind was cool air." Jay's name carries from 2015 reviews to 2026 ones, with Jeremy, Raymond and Ryan named on individual jobs. Two homeowners writing this summer had their systems installed about four years ago and are still calling the same company for service. The complaints are about communication. A December 2015 Angi reviewer described calls, texts and emails going unreturned and a job unfinished after three weeks — the company replied that it had no records of installing an oil furnace and asked the reviewer to identify himself — and a five-star reviewer that same month wrote that you may have to call a few times before Jay responds. On the Better Business Bureau, a reviewer complained of rudeness and bad communication. The sharpest account is a 2022 Google review: the price was fair and the start was good, but the crew damaged the customer's ceiling during the installation, the repair took months and repeated requests, and the filter was left out of the new system. For a heat pump, a ductless system or a furnace swap in the Grafton–MetroWest belt — especially if you want the Mass Save rebates worked into the quote — this is a reasonable shop to get a number from. Before the crew starts, settle who you call if something needs fixing after the invoice is paid, and how fast they'll come back.
