AJK Construction and Painting, LLC presents itself on Thumbtack as an Agawam-area construction and remodeling pro with 13 years in business, while HomeAdvisor lists the company in nearby Feeding Hills. The profiles describe work led by Alex, including gutters, exterior painting, carpentry, porches, pressure washing, fencing, and general remodeling. Thumbtack says the pro has five employees, a background check, and 288 project photos or listings; it also carries the company's claim that its construction supervisors are fully licensed for one- and two-family dwellings. A state registry number is not shown here, so confirm the applicable license directly before work begins. The positive side of the customer history is concrete, though much of it is older. Thumbtack customers in 2018, 2019, and 2025 described careful gutter cleaning, siding and roof washing, framing a gazebo, clear communication, cleanup, and friendly service. HomeAdvisor reviews from 2020 through 2023 praised gutter repairs and leaf screens, exterior painting, a ceiling and leak repair, and a porch rebuild in a Springfield historic district; one homeowner said the project passed construction and historic-commission inspections. Those accounts show a broad range of completed exterior and remodeling work, but they do not all describe recent projects. There are also two detailed one-star HomeAdvisor reviews from January and December 2025 that should be discussed before booking. One customer described a bathroom remodel as unfinished and poorly done, alleged that electrical and plumbing work was performed by unlicensed handymen, and described a mechanics-lien and payment dispute. Another alleged unfinished work, missing permits, severe electrical problems, and continuing financial loss. These are customer allegations, not independently adjudicated findings in the profile, but they are specific, recent, and materially different from the older praise. AJK may be worth considering for a well-defined exterior, gutter, painting, or carpentry job where the scope, permits, responsible tradespeople, payment schedule, warranty, and completion standards are written down. Ask for current Massachusetts license details, permits for the proposed work, insurance, recent local references, and a written plan for resolving punch-list items before signing.
I hired Ajk to remodel a small bathroom. Not only was the job poorly done, but exceeded duration of timeline by multiple weeks with minimal progress, with alex providing electrical and plumbing services from unlicensed handymen despite initially implying they were fully trained/qualified. After his dismissal from the job, he attempted to put a mechanics lien on the property, despite being paid in full for the job, then being paid thousands more for additional work that was never done. Following almost 2 years of small claims court and a court directed payment schedule, I've still received zero dollars.
I hired AJK to help me clean out the gutters of my home. They were incredibly personable and responsive. They arrived when they said they would and were super kind and sweet. They did a fantastic job and made sure to clean up the mess! 10/10 will definitely hire again!
Alex is a trusted and professional worker. He battled the elements to get our Gazebo up as quick as possible and was communicative throughout the entire process. We've already booked more jobs with him and could not be happier
Alex is the worst contractor alive, he did horrible work, never finished anything, never pulled permits, all while he had just screwed over another woman and her disabled child. My electrical is so messed up it's going to cost over $20,000 to fix it. He puts on the nice guy vibes and then turns into a swearing lying bully. I haven't been able to use my bathroom since last March.
Alex, Arthur and Daniel rebuilt the porch of my mother's house in a historic district in Springfield. They were beyond amazing--The porch now looks like it's brand new, but still is in the style needed for that area. They also painted the entire house and cleaned the gutters. The roof of the porch had declined so significantly that a demo was necessary, but the guys did an awesome job not only with demo, but cleanup and rebuilding. Since my husband and I don't live on site of the renovation, Alex provided daily (sometimes hourly!) updates and pictures of the progress that was made. The house not only passed normal construction inspection, but also met with the strict requirements of the historical commission in Springfield. I would hire them again in a second.
