Matthew Anderson has been the public face of Cape Cod home building for years: the Cape Cod Times and Barnstable Patriot reported in October 2019 that the president of Anderson Framing & Remodeling in East Sandwich was installed as president of the Home Builders & Remodelers Association of Massachusetts, after earlier leading the Cape Cod chapter. The company frames whole building projects, builds decks, and also does excavating and land construction. What homeowners have written is thin and old: Google shows 3.7 stars from three ratings, and the two written reviews are a 2018 five-star 'Excellent, I would use them' and a 2019 one-star that says only 'Clown'. Neither describes a job. The safety record deserves a direct question. OSHA's website shows a repeat citation against the company, corrected during the inspection, with an initial penalty of $11,154 reduced to $5,577, and SVEP Navigator reports an OSHA inspection opened August 22, 2016 that produced two citations and $4,489.10 in proposed penalties. A repeat citation means OSHA had cited the same kind of hazard before. For a framing package or a deck on the Upper Cape, this is a well-connected builder; ask for recent references, since none are written down, and ask what changed on site after the OSHA inspections.
