Tirana HVAC is a Stoneham shop run by Mark, and the clearest pattern across its reviews is homeowners getting a second opinion that saves them thousands instead of paying for a big-ticket replacement. In a recent review, a customer whose central AC died was quoted $15,000 for a full replacement elsewhere, then had Tirana out the same day for a real diagnosis. It isn't a one-off: in a 2021 review, another homeowner facing a similarly steep replacement quote for a broken AC got a $40 part swap from Mark instead, and in a separate 2021 review a $6,000 system-replacement quote turned into a $110 condenser fix. A 2025 Reddit recommendation credits Tirana with the same instinct — telling the poster an upgrade wasn't needed rather than selling one. The written record runs deep — 39 reviews from 2020 through 2026 across Google, Angi and HomeAdvisor, all five stars but one 4.5★ on Angi. Google shows 5★ from 24 ratings; HomeAdvisor and Angi each show 4.9★ from 135 ratings. The jobs span the trade: ductless minisplit and multi-zone AC installs finished in a single day, ecobee and nest thermostat swaps in older homes with outdated wiring, and, in a 2020 review, a furnace replacement paired with a full duct and vent redesign that evened out heating between floors. Nearly every account mentions the same habit — Mark explains the diagnosis and the fix before doing the work. Activity has slowed lately, with just two reviews in the past six months, both five stars, but the multi-year record behind them is substantial. There's no documented complaint anywhere in the record to weigh against this, and nothing on licensing either way — an unusually one-sided read for a shop this size, built on named, specific jobs rather than vague praise. For a minisplit or ductless install, a stalled AC, or a second opinion before signing off on an expensive HVAC replacement, this is a strong track record to lean on. Worth confirming current lead times directly — the reviews describe a small, hands-on operation, not a large crew.
“We used Tirana HVAC for a variety of services, including maintenance of our system, quotes for updating our system, etc. Each time, they responded quickly, gave us honest feedback (including telling us there was no need to update at this time), and fair pricing. They've even given us additional services at no charge (extended warranty on a product we didn't buy through them but they installed; offering to changing out our air filters because they remembered the last time they were at our house was 6 months ago and you should change them every six months). They are truly amazing.”
One of my central AC units stopped working. A HVAC company did a quick check and recommended either a cleaning for $1,000 or a full replacement for at least $15,000. During my search for additional quotes, I came across Tirana HVAC, which has many outstanding reviews. I called that morning to ask about the cost of replacing the unit. Mark answered the phone. After patiently listening to my description, he suggested that the unit should first be examined to determine whether it could be repaired at a much lower cost. To my surprise, Mark and his colleague came that same afternoon and performed a thorough diagnosis. They discovered that the condensate drain was clogged and that the indoor evaporator unit had shut down due to the drainage issue. They fixed everything quickly and professionally. When it came time to pay, I was surprised that the charge was far lower than expected. Mark and his team are professional, knowledgeable, honest, and genuinely kind. I highly recommend Tirana!
The Tirana team is incredible and quite literally saved our lives this week. Our regular HVAC company came to do a routine inspection this weekend, broke our heating system through negligence and gave us a repair quote for thousands of dollars. They left us without heat before a historic blizzard and had no urgency or care for the danger they were leaving us in. Tirana had done another job for us in the past, so we immediately called them for a second opinion. They helped us resolve the issue as efficiently as possible and charged us a fraction of our initial quote. Tirana is an ethical team that does not upsell or heavily markup their prices like some of the PE-backed companies. We are incredibly impressed with their work.
A few of the wires in my HVAC system burned up because of the recent heatwave, and Tirana was able to come out the same night and fix everything for a price less than many other places charge for their so-called "call out fee". Would highly recommend going with them instead of the bigger name (bloated, overpriced, borderline-scammy) ones in Boston.
Highly recommend Mark and Tirana HVAC - they installed minisplits at our home and they did a perfect job. They were the most reasonably priced company we found and the service was impeccable.
I hired Mark because he was highly recommended by others. My experience was phenomenal. I cannot thank him enough. He always came when he said he would. The job was completed timely everything was cleaned up and to my specifications. Mark was always concerned that I was Pleased with everything he was doing. He explained things very well and I understand how to work the system, he was reasonably priced as I had had many quotes. By far the best contractor I have dealt with in a long time he is the only person I will go to for HVAC ever . You should definitely hire him.
