Architectural Kitchens is a Wellesley, MA kitchen design-build shop that's been doing full gut renovations since 1996, when Bill Prachnick, who still owns and runs it, opened the doors. The company keeps its own craftsmen, electricians and plumbers in-house, so a remodel doesn't get parceled out to a rotating cast of subcontractors. The reviews on Houzz tell a consistent story: homeowners who hired Prachnick for a complete kitchen tear-out and rebuild came away happy with the design and the finished product. One family had him rebuild their kitchen twice — once as part of a 2000 addition, then again in 2019 after a water-pipe flood — and came back both times. Another spent four months on a full demolition-to-finish remodel that touched everything from cabinetry to ceiling beams. Across five Houzz reviews from 2017 through 2021, every one is five stars, and the firm's Houzz profile shows the same pattern at scale: a 5.0 rating from 46 reviews and 22 projects shown, with 5 Houzz Awards and 4 Houzz Badges. Worth knowing before calling: the written reviews on file run from 2017 to 2021, so there's nothing more current to point to — worth asking what the crew and workload look like now. The company's own Houzz listing also mentions three Massachusetts-licensed construction supervisors on staff, though that's the firm's own claim rather than something verified against the state registry. This is a good call for a homeowner planning a real, ground-up kitchen renovation rather than a single-component swap — the reviews are specifically about whole-room rebuilds, not quick fixes. Confirm current availability and timeline before committing, since the deepest reviews are several years old.

Our kitchen was rebuild in 2000 as part of an addition by Bill Prachnick of Architectural Kitchens; we liked the design, layout and functionality so much that Bill did a rebuild of our kitchen from an unfortunate water pipe flood in the fall of 2019. AKI also rebuilt the rest of the house that was damaged, including four bathrooms, a family room, basement home theater and mudroom. Bill has a great eye for design and detail; his craftsmanship is outstanding and he uses high end/good quality materials. He is resourceful and a wealth of information for designing kitchens and bathrooms. Bill is organized and easy to work with and we cannot thank him enough for all of his time and help in rebuilding our home from our flood. His team is talented, professional, honest and hardworking. AKI can be on the higher side for his proposals, however, in our case, he was competitive with other builders. He is mindful of keeping costs in line with his estimates and he is open to eliminating things while working within a budget.
We hired Architectural Kitchens to remodel our entire kitchen, replacing everything except the floors. We were very pleased with their work. The job was completed on time and the crew was great to work with. Bill was very helpful with planning the design and selecting materials. He even went to the tile store and granite company with me to help pick out patterns and materials that worked amazingly well with the overall design. We were impressed with the attention to detail of Architectural Kitchens' crew and the subcontractors were also great. Bill was responsive to our questions and always aware of the status of the project; he has a refreshing hands on approach to supervising the progress of the work that we have not experienced with other contractors. We felt like we had the "A Team" throughout the process. We would highly recommend Architectural Kitchens to anyone who wants high quality work that is completed on time.
Bill Pratchnik and his crew did a complete kitchen remodel for us. It was a big job that took about four months, and involved completely demolishing the old kitchen and butler's pantry, and installing all new appliances, cabinetry, lighting, flooring, ceiling beams, and countertops. Bill and Nicole gave us sound and practical advice from the design phase on, improving plans our architect had drawn up. The crew was professional, friendly and courteous, and came every day, exactly when they said they would. All milestones were met exactly when they were projected to, and the project was completed exactly on time and exactly on budget. There were no surprises. Even now, more than a year later, if I have a question or issue, Bill is happy to send someone over to tighten a cabinet hinge or reconnect a loose wire. The finished room is beautiful and functional and suits us perfectly. I recommend Architectural Kitchens with the utmost confidence and enthusiasm.
We hired Bill Prachnik (owner of Architectural Kitchens) to renovate our kitchen and family room in June, 2017. Bill's design completely transformed our space. His ideas were fantastic and the quality and workmanship are outstanding. We could not be happier with the finished product. The project was finished on time and on budget. We would hire Bill again without hesitation.
We hired Architectural Kitchens to design and do the construction on a complete kitchen remodel, and are completely happy about all phases of the project. Bill Prachnick is a wonderful designer and builder, and we appreciated his insights as we reconfigured the kitchen. Joe Borbone, who supervised the building project day-to-day, couldn't have been nicer or more capable. They were both unflappable when things came up (the tile we chose arrived much later from the manufacturer than promised, once I locked the builders out, etc.). The project kept to the original tight timeline remarkably well. We appreciated their judgement, experience, and the high standard of their work. Now that we have been using the kitchen for several months, I appreciate Bill's careful design even more, as well as the quality of the work and cabinetry. Bill gave as much design advice as we needed, and told us the pros and cons of our options, without being overbearing. Architectural Kitchens was fairly priced for a high quality product, and I recommend them without hesitation.
