Archwright's public record isn't written by its customers — it's written by magazines. The Duxbury builder turns up as the construction credit on a waterfront house in New England Home in 2024, in the 2023 Cape & Islands Design Guide, and as South Shore Home, Life & Style's 2023 pick for best custom home builder. The firm says it was founded in 2016 to build luxury homes on an open-book basis and is approaching its tenth year. Cara Meneses is named President and Owner with Michael Mailloux as Vice President, after a leadership transition the company announced in January 2026; Cape Cod LIFE profiled Meneses in 2023 as Archwright's founder and builder. The work it lists runs from new custom homes and historical restorations to additions, porches, pool houses and docks, alongside an estate management arm that keeps caring for the houses it builds. Houzz puts a typical job between $50,000 and $10 million, which tells you the end of the market this is. What's absent is any homeowner's verdict. The Houzz profile has three project galleries — a Sudbury master suite, a Cohasset house, a Wellesley historical restoration — and still reads "You could be the first review." Everything favourable here comes from trade press, design guides and the company's own awards page rather than from someone who hired them, which is why the rating below is held at low confidence. A window supplier's 2023 case study quotes Meneses saying a new Chatham house came together in eleven months, and credits the collaboration for it — worth reading as the company's own account of the job rather than an independent one. One thing to sort out on a first call: the directory record is out of date. Houzz still names the principals as Brian Lafauce and Cara Aupperlee at a Tremont Street address, while the company's own site names Meneses and Mailloux on Depot Street. Ask who will actually run your project day to day, and ask for the Massachusetts construction supervisor and home improvement contractor registration numbers so you can check them against the state register yourself. This is a plausible fit for a large coastal build or a period restoration where an architect is already involved and the published credits matter. If you want to hear from past clients, you'll have to ask for references directly — there are none on the public record.
