Atlantic Mechanical doesn't take residential jobs — it's a commercial-only, design-build HVAC and refrigeration contractor out of Weymouth, working eastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island. It started as Atlantic Refrigeration around 1980 under Paul Gratta, became Atlantic Mechanical in 2010, and is still family-run, with Paul's son Joe now serving as CEO. The company also says it was the first in North America fully trained on Daikin VRV systems, and it belongs to the Weymouth Chamber of Commerce. The reviews that stick describe the same thing: they answer when it's an emergency. A 2025 account described calling three times in one month for a failing walk-in cooler and two other refrigeration units, including a call on a 105°F day when the walk-in's temperature had climbed to 58°F — technicians showed up the same day, late at night, after everyone else had finished for the day. Google rates the company 4.5 stars across 29 ratings, and its BBB page carries an A+ grade (it isn't an accredited BBB member, and the page shows no complaint count) with BBB listing 46 years in business. Recent activity is thin — just one review in the past six months, and it's a positive one. Before calling: confirm your job is commercial, since the company is explicit that it doesn't do residential work. A January 2026 review complains about a company vehicle being driven aggressively on the road — it says nothing about the mechanical work itself, but it's worth knowing about. Its Massachusetts HVAC license is active, verified against the state registry. For a business with refrigeration or HVAC equipment down, Atlantic Mechanical looks built for the middle-of-the-night call — the kind of shop that shows up on the worst day of the summer. Just make sure your address is a business, not a house.
“Atlantic Mechanical understands their employees and assure a healthy work environment. A great place to work at.”
Grate company
Drives like they've been infected with Rage Virus.
I’ve been in buisness for over 30 years and this company is the best I’ve ever seen or used. I’ve had to call them 3 times in the last month to fix my walkin cooler, freezer and another cooler, not only did they come and fix the issues the same day, But I had to call them on the hottest day in the last 100 years when it was 105F and my walk in shot up to 58F and as you would normally expect a company to say “ we are booked right now we can’t come out until next week” these guys came the SAME DAY, late at night. When everyone is done for the day, their techs are out coming to fix your equipment. The techs are great guys, very smart. And as far as pricing goes, they are more than reasonable.. I almost don’t want to leave this review because I want to keep these guys all to myself but I felt I just had to leave a review as I am extremely happy with this company. I will be using them to install a new central cooling system in the fall.
