Barresi Flooring is an Ashland, Massachusetts outfit that people call for hardwood floors that have seen better days — sanded, refinished, and matched back into a house so precisely that owners say they can't tell where the old work ends and the new begins. The company describes itself as family-owned, run by Peter Barresi, and its BBB file lists it as an active sole proprietorship going back to May 2007, putting it at 19 years in business. The pattern across seventeen 5-star Google ratings and years of written reviews holds up: homeowners keep landing on the same refinishing and installation jobs — old, carpet-covered floors uncovered and restored, front-of-house hardwood matched to back-of-house hardwood over a 12-month, two-phase project, maple flooring matched to existing maple trim. One Shrewsbury customer came home from a long weekend to hardwood that "looked brand new." The tile side of the business gets the same marks: a full kitchen tile tear-out and releveling finished in under two days with, as one reviewer put it, "perfect thin grout lines," and a bathroom job that took a tub and shower walls down to the studs before retiling three walls and the ceiling. Several reviewers single out Peter Barresi himself, describing him as attentive from the first consultation through the final walkthrough — not just running the crew but explaining the work along the way. In an older 2023 review, one customer summed it up simply: "Great boss. Skilled workers. Fair price." There's little to flag here — no complaints and no licensing disputes turn up in the record, and while the business isn't BBB-accredited, it isn't rated poorly either — BBB says it doesn't have enough information to issue a rating, which is common for smaller shops. The written reviews all live on Google rather than being spread across multiple platforms, so it's worth asking for a couple of recent local references directly if a bigger job, like a whole-house refinish, is on the table. For anyone in the MetroWest area needing hardwood refinished or new flooring installed, including tile, this is a shop whose reviews describe consistent, well-matched, cleanly finished work — confirm the scope and timeline up front for larger multi-phase jobs.

If you’re searching for flooring pros who are patient, ready to explain everything, and eager to answer all your questions, you’ve found the right spot! Pete was really attentive and went above and beyond to make sure all my doubts were cleared up. I felt taken care of every step of the way!
Pete and his crew did a great job. He replaced old hardwood floors in my house. Very happy with the work he did!
Pete and his team at Barresi Flooring refinished our oak hardwood floors in a two phased project, completed over a 12 month period of time. They did an outstanding job matching the front of the house floors with the back of the house floors. They also install new vinyl flooring, oak stair threads in our basement playroom and tile flooring in our back entrance, bathroom and laundry area. The Barresi team was on time, stayed on the project, on schedule and on budget! Pete and team worked with us to help move our furniture which was a great help! Ed Slein
I had them come in to sand and finish my floors after buying my first home. The house had been bank owned so the antique floors were a disaster. The floors came out beautifully. Had them come back after renovating my first floor and they installed a prefinished floor that they were able to supply. Still happy with all my floors. Getting ready to hire again to do my vacation home. :)
Barresi flooring came in for a basement floor install to our home in central Mass. Quick install with a friendly and professional demeanor and provided a great experience for us in our first home project.
