Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, #219991, is active on the state registry. The company calls itself family- and locally-owned, says it has been operating for 30-plus years, and lists foundation repair and waterproofing, underpinning, siding, roofing, masonry and basement refinishing as its work. Customers keep naming the same few people: William quotes and explains, William Jr and Tony run the jobs. One had a full reroof done to standard in three days and wrote that William's quote was more detailed and cheaper than the other one they got. Another called about shingles missing after a wind storm and had the rest of the roof checked over while the crew was up there. Several mention being shown photos of the problem before the work started, and being left with a clean site afterwards. Below ground is the other half of the business. An Angi reviewer describes a full basement waterproofing — excavating and waterproofing the exterior foundation walls, then pouring a new concrete basement floor. Others had a brick-and-fieldstone foundation ground and repointed, basement beams reinforced with proper supports, a chimney rebuilt with new flashing around the roof, granite front steps repaired, and drywall and framing patched and matched after a plumbing leak. One thing to raise on the first call: the company's site claims 30-plus years in business, while its Better Business Bureau profile puts the business at under six months. Ask how long this company has been trading and under what name the earlier work was done. For a roof, a chimney or a wet basement around Cambridge and Somerville, this is a crew that works both ends of the house. Get the scope and price in writing, ask for the registration number and a current insurance certificate, and for foundation or structural repairs ask who specifies and signs off the fix.
