An ice dam came down on an air conditioning compressor and flattened it — body mangled, top crushed, fan jammed. In a June 2026 review, the homeowner expected to be told to buy a new one. Berry Mechanical's technician Matt worked out how to get it running instead. In a 2024 review, a customer's boiler got the same treatment: a creative, technically difficult fix rather than the replacement they had been bracing for. That instinct is why this Georgetown company gets the repeat calls. It says it started in 2001 with three HVAC men — Allan, Bill and Scott — two trucks and Allan's garage, moving to Georgetown and then to its current property in 2012. Its Massachusetts HVAC licence is active on the state registry, the BBB grade is A+, and by its own account the service technicians are NATE-certified and it deals Bosch, American Standard, Lochinvar, Rinnai and Viessmann equipment. Customers name the people. Matt and Kosta on the trucks. Mike, who rang back within an hour of an after-six heat-wave call in a 2025 review and was at the house the next afternoon. Diana, who fit another customer in the following morning. Cheryl, who filled in the MassSave rebate paperwork on a 2023 heat pump job while Allan walked that homeowner through the install options. In a 2025 review the company chased a supplier to get a part covered under warranty the homeowner had not known to claim; in another, a technician first talked the customer through fixing it himself before anyone was sent out. The complaints all date from 2023. A prospective customer in October that year called twice for a quote and was told both times that existing customers came first; the call back never came. In May 2023 a customer said the technician spent most of the visit complaining that the air handler was in a dark, cramped attic. A third, who had used them for four years of yearly maintenance on an instant hot water boiler and AC, wrote specifically to caution people about Rinnai hot water boiler work. On Google the company holds 4.6 stars across 41 ratings, and a 2025 r/massachusetts commenter called them reputable. Two limits are worth knowing before you call: the company says it does no oil, steam or conventional tank water heater work, and that its 24/7 emergency service is for contract customers. If you want the after-hours coverage, ask about the service plan up front — and if you are a new customer with an urgent job, say so on the first call.
“Try Berry mechanical out of Georgetown. Very reputable.”
Berry installed a mini split at my daughter's condo --- did an AMAZING job! Allan made the process SO easy. After speaking with a couple other companies, and asking ALOT of questions, I realized that Allan was leading me in the right direction for long time success. Was Berry the cheapest? No, but VERY reasonably priced...however he provided a full and detailed explanation why other installation choices were not ideal. I'm glad I did my due diligence, and can rest comfortably (and cool-ly) knowing I have a trusted company to take care of my HVAC needs. Additional kudos to Billy who helped my daughter get her unit set up on Wifi as well as teaching her all the setting options! Can't forget Diana and Ali in the office for their attention to detail and patience and the install guys who arrived ON TIME and worked diligently!! Couldn't be happier :)
Quick service and excellent technician
The technician, Matt, was amazing. He went above and beyond! My A/C compressor got crushed by an ice dam, so the body was mangled, the top was flattened, and the fan couldn't turn. Most guys would have advised buying a new compressor and walked away. Matt figured out to get the top off and removed the fan and fan casing. He turned into a sheet metal expert in my driveway and hammered out the top and fan casing. Then he straightened out the body enough to get the top back on, reinstalled the fan / casing, and it works great again! With some creativity and extra effort Matt saved me a ton of money!
I dealt with my share of “station wagon” installers ,Berry Mechanical had all hands on deck with no delay . Very professional & Above Expectations. Thanks Guys
Barry mechanical uses high-quality products and the service has been great. They have been available quickly for emergencies. I highly recommend their service plan, especially if you have a big fluffy dog and forced hot air.
