Boston Solar is a Woburn shop that puts panels on Massachusetts roofs, and increasingly batteries and EV chargers alongside them. On Google, where it holds a 4.7★ average across 1,360 ratings, what people praise is the install itself — reviewers repeatedly called the crews professional, efficient and courteous, and several picked the company only after comparing five or more competitors on price and process. That first impression is not the whole story. A run of more recent reviews describe a warranty and service side that goes quiet once the panels are up: a July 2026 review reports a failed city inspection over incorrect wiring and days without a callback, a June 2026 review describes a faulty gateway unresolved since August 2025 despite repeated calls, and reviews from January and May of 2026 describe long waits for a warranty panel swap and for a failing micro-inverter to get addressed. A January 2026 review adds that its installation was subcontracted despite an in-house promise at signing. On Reddit, a solar seller who once competed with the company called it "one of the good ones" in the region, and a Wayland homeowner said in a 2024 post that a mid-2023 install had already saved $3,500 in a year. But other Reddit posters describe a company that wouldn't accommodate an add-on once the original system was in, and one buyer felt "treated like another number" while paying the highest of several quotes collected. Its BBB page carries an A- grade with five complaints on file. On at least one job (a 2024 review), a customer said where a battery was mounted on the house was never discussed with them beforehand. Anyone considering Boston Solar should ask directly how warranty and service-department requests get tracked once the crew leaves — that is where the recent complaints concentrate, not in the sale or the install.

I'm incredibly disappointed with Boston Solar. They installed our panels two weeks ago but they still aren't working because we failed the city inspection because they used incorrect wiring. A worker came yesterday (3 business days after the failed inspection) but he was unable to make the repairs as the wiring hadn't arrived yet. He said he would be back the next morning, but no one came, no one is answering emails or the phone and it's well after lunch. The phone numbers on their website are all disconnected but I found the correct number on Google, though no one answered and I left a message. I'm hoping maybe the one star review will get them to remember we exist and fix our panels we've paid significant amounts of money for before the summer is over. I can't keep working from home to wait for someone to correct their error.
Zero accountability. Do not trust. Incredibly frustrating experience with Boston Solar. I inherited a system they installed and have been trying to get them to fix a faulty gateway since August 2025. After months of sending videos, photos, and speaking to multiple people, I was promised a technician would come out in February. They completely stood me up. Now, they won’t even answer the phone. Given the current state of the solar industry, it wouldn't surprise me if they are going under. Save yourself the stress and go with a company that actually picks up the phone.
Bad Business... I installed a 30kw solar system in 2020, communication was good, system installed in reasonable time at the time, has worked well till now. ...Years later (problem).. I have a bad solar cell micro inverter. It was reported in Jan 2026 to Boston Solar to warranty repair the item. After getting the original Solar System money, now they ghost their customers. I have done many-many-many phone calls, emails, texts. All I hear from Boston Solar is excuses, false promises, B.S., maybe a future repair date, and they won't come warrant replace the item. Waiting 5-6 months is total B.S.!! Bad-Bad-Real Bad, customer service here. I am next complaining to the state Attorney General, maybe taking them to court. Microinverter finally replaced on May 28. Buyer Beware!!
I had a great sales experience with Boston Solar when I purchased my system back in 2017. However; I have now been given the run around for over a year regarding the replacement of one panel that’s still under warranty. A tech was supposed to come out today to replace my panel and never arrived. No call, no show! Boston Solar is clearly only worried about their bottom line and not earning customers and positive word of mouth sales. What’s the next step? Better Business Bureau or Media.
I just had my installation with Boston Solar- it went perfectly. Chris and his team were communicative, neat and extremely polite. My whole experience thus far has been very positive. Dillon the first person I spoke with was very knowledgeable, and I felt like he was providing information rather than selling me a system. I will wait now for the city inspection but I will be live with solar in no time. So glad I went with Boston Solar.
