Boston Solar's installation crews and its service department read like two different companies, and which one you meet depends on whether anything goes wrong after the panels are on the roof. The Woburn company has put rooftop solar on enough Massachusetts houses to carry 1,360 Google ratings averaging 4.7, and the people writing right after a project finishes are consistently warm. In 2025 reviews, customers named their sales consultant and their project coordinator and credited them for steady updates and an install that landed on schedule. A Stoneham homeowner writing in August 2024 said the pricing was competitive and the design and installation process was explained in detail before anything was signed. A November 2024 reviewer picked them partly because they don't run the door-to-door pitch that had been working the neighborhood. The complaints are not about the install. They are about the years after it. A May 2026 reviewer with a 30kW system from 2020 said a bad micro-inverter reported for warranty repair in January 2026 was still sitting unrepaired. In June 2026, someone who inherited a Boston Solar system wrote that a faulty gateway had gone unfixed since August 2025 despite months of photos, videos and phone calls. A July 2026 customer said their new panels failed the city inspection on incorrect wiring and still weren't producing two weeks after installation. Unreturned calls to the service line come up repeatedly in 2025 reviews too. Four of the six reviews posted in the last six months run this way, which is a live pattern rather than an old one. A January 2026 reviewer also said they were told the work was done in house and found it had been subcontracted. Its BBB page grades the company A- with five complaints on file. Reddit is friendlier, and worth reading as what it is — commenters, not verified customers. In a March 2026 r/solar thread, someone who said they sold solar in New England for eight years called them one of the good ones in the region; a January 2025 r/massachusetts poster called them solid and said to get a referral. Two 2024 commenters put their pricing above competing quotes, one citing $3.40 per watt. Press releases circulated on Reddit describe the company as a wholly owned subsidiary of SinglePoint Inc. as of April 2025, and a March 2026 release announced a non-binding letter of intent by Powell Max Limited to acquire it. They're a reasonable call if you want a local installer with a long Massachusetts history and a design process people describe in detail. Get the after-sale part in writing before you sign: who you call when an inverter or panel fails, what the response window is, and who carries that obligation if the company changes hands.

I'm incredibly disappointed with Boston Solar. They installed our panels two weeks ago but they still aren't working because we failed the city inspection because they used incorrect wiring. A worker came yesterday (3 business days after the failed inspection) but he was unable to make the repairs as the wiring hadn't arrived yet. He said he would be back the next morning, but no one came, no one is answering emails or the phone and it's well after lunch. The phone numbers on their website are all disconnected but I found the correct number on Google, though no one answered and I left a message. I'm hoping maybe the one star review will get them to remember we exist and fix our panels we've paid significant amounts of money for before the summer is over. I can't keep working from home to wait for someone to correct their error.
Zero accountability. Do not trust. Incredibly frustrating experience with Boston Solar. I inherited a system they installed and have been trying to get them to fix a faulty gateway since August 2025. After months of sending videos, photos, and speaking to multiple people, I was promised a technician would come out in February. They completely stood me up. Now, they won’t even answer the phone. Given the current state of the solar industry, it wouldn't surprise me if they are going under. Save yourself the stress and go with a company that actually picks up the phone.
Bad Business... I installed a 30kw solar system in 2020, communication was good, system installed in reasonable time at the time, has worked well till now. ...Years later (problem).. I have a bad solar cell micro inverter. It was reported in Jan 2026 to Boston Solar to warranty repair the item. After getting the original Solar System money, now they ghost their customers. I have done many-many-many phone calls, emails, texts. All I hear from Boston Solar is excuses, false promises, B.S., maybe a future repair date, and they won't come warrant replace the item. Waiting 5-6 months is total B.S.!! Bad-Bad-Real Bad, customer service here. I am next complaining to the state Attorney General, maybe taking them to court. Microinverter finally replaced on May 28. Buyer Beware!!
I had a great sales experience with Boston Solar when I purchased my system back in 2017. However; I have now been given the run around for over a year regarding the replacement of one panel that’s still under warranty. A tech was supposed to come out today to replace my panel and never arrived. No call, no show! Boston Solar is clearly only worried about their bottom line and not earning customers and positive word of mouth sales. What’s the next step? Better Business Bureau or Media.
I just had my installation with Boston Solar- it went perfectly. Chris and his team were communicative, neat and extremely polite. My whole experience thus far has been very positive. Dillon the first person I spoke with was very knowledgeable, and I felt like he was providing information rather than selling me a system. I will wait now for the city inspection but I will be live with solar in no time. So glad I went with Boston Solar.
